advice on neck width

hello all, long time reader first time poster

so i'm looking at investing in a lakland and have been doing alot of research on the topic. the 55-02 has a 1.78" nut and the 55-94 has a 1/81" nut. i'm used to the 1.75" on the music man and the 55-02 feels great as well. i didn't think that the extra spacing between the 55-02 and 55-94 would make a difference but i've been hearing that it makes a world of difference. problem is, noone stocks a 55-94 to play for myself. what do you guys think?

I wish I could help you but Im so not familiar with Laklands. I know Eaglemoon is selling a Lakland but I don't even know what model it is LOL.

For what its worth, Id stay with the neck width that you like and know. Ive memorized the specs on the narrowest bass neck I have and the widest and when looking for a new bass I always compare to see if it falls in that range, preferably more toward the narrow neck.

I've played/owned both a 55-94 and a 55-02, as well as 55-01's and DJ and JO 5's. There may be a little bit of difference in the feel between the DJ5, the JO5, and the different 55's, but I recall them all being mostly in the same ballpark.

What makes a bigger difference to me than a .03" wider or narrower nut is things like the fretboard radius, but all the 55's have 10-13" compound radius. If you like the 55-02 neck, you'll almost certainly like the 55-94 neck--you may well like it even better, since it has the same oil-and-wax type finish as the SR5.
