Advice Wanted...Needed...

How about a Yamaha TRBX604. Two double humbuckers, both active and passive. Nice ergonomics, good balance, fairly light (around 8 lbs), fast and easy to play. $600 new.

I have the 504 and I can get lots of different tones out of it. The quality is excellent for the price.

I tried a few Yamaha's about 10 years back and didn't like any of then I tried...Maybe it's time for a revisit...

while I appreciate the many suggestions I would really like to keep it to something with humbuckers...and if possible something that switches from both both active and passive...and as posted I would really prefer something with a 1.5" nut with a 9.5" radius to a 12" radius on the neck (with 10" being my favorite)

Both close to your specs, and have a sound that is just different enough from a pee or a jay.... Recommend without reservation.

I'm a fan of the 2 band StingRay tone. I picked up the new SR special HH on a lark in a store along with a Ric and was truly surprised how was immediately in love with it. I expected to like the Ric and feel indifference towards the special. I ended up with the single H version 2 months later, I love the 10" radius roasted maple neck with a slim taper and the overall weight is a joy. I think it's worth comparing it against the L2000.

lol...i do...but i hardly if ever get a studio request (In my area mostly Hip Hop, Country, Pop, and Rock tunes I get hired for) or even use fretless much in a live situation (not playing much Jazz these days)...so i'm focusing on something that will work for my current needs...not to mention i own nothing active and nothing with a Double humbucker set up...

For those of you who wanted an update...


I ended up acquiring a used G&L M-2000 Tribute, as well as a used L-2000 Tribute...to try them out (M-2000 will probably go back out the door even though I love the look and sound)

But the one I'm most excited about is this baby...It's an Ernie Ball Music Man U.S.A. Sterling 4HS (God I hate the way they name stuff confusing as all hell)
