Guys and Gals.....as I'm recently retired from extensive touring (Having hit my 50's and wanting to stay closer to home and family)...and doing a lot of studio work these days...And...I'm in the market for a new bass...
I own Several Precision Basses
Several Jazz Basses
Several "P/J" Basses
and Several Rickenbackers
"P/J"'s have always been my go to and have pretty much played them exclusively in various projects and bands for years now..
Most producers have asked me to bring either a "P" bass or a "J" bass into the studio...(hence the reason I own them) but a few have asked for something a little more out of "Ordinary Box" as of late...
So...
I want to add something with Double Humbuckers....(and I would really like to kill two birds with one stone and acquire something that is both Active and Passive with switching options)...My budget is around the $2000.00 dollar mark
At this point I'm leaning towards a G&L L-2000...(Caveat is I prefer a maple board and a 1.5" nut width)
So fellow TB'ers what say you?
P.S. (I'm in the process of selling off a lot of my private collection that just doesn't get played anymore and trying to keep the stable down to about 10 basses give or take...so I may up my budget to $3,000.00 depending on what sells and when)
