Don can give a blow by blow if you like however you can see by my bald head intense vibe I'm way digging the bass.

Brian G of course to the left has just said "hey man let me take that stick. You can't seem to figure out what to do with it".

That back is SICK!

The ribs, back, neck and scroll are all walnut. The top is Sitka spruce.

The lighting in the varnish room washed out the walnut color. The bass is not the orange of post #21. The real color is in the photos of me and Phil playing, and in the photos at the top of the thread.

The neck and scroll were carved from one long block of walnut.

Only clear varnish was used on the walnut. Arnold did a masterful job getting the white Sitka spruce to match. The workbench picture on the far right of post #20 shows the difference in colors.

In sunlight or white light, the walnut grain stipes are brown, black, orange, gray, and there are even traces of purple!

It was shocking to see a picture of myself online playing a (gulp) German bow. Very underhanded, Don. Thanks guys for all the nice comments. BTW, this was the second walnut bass I've built; the first one had a maple neck, though.
