Affordable Mahogany and pasive 5 stringer?

Can anyone give a suggestion? I've always liked the sound of all Mahogany made basses ( especially with both pups half way) it sounds really warm, not midrangie but fills out a lot of space. I sold my Les paul bass because of the low string tension and im looking for a replacement, this time a 5 string. Can anyone help me out?

I own a Carvin LB75 that is all mahogany, 2-piece neck-through, and body wings. It's a beautiful sounding bass - I've had it and played it for over a decade.
It is active, with the J-style stacked HB's and has a nice sound with both p'ups evenly on. Always warm yet punchy, a really satisfying sound.

Today's Carvin's have a pull-volume passive switch.
Call them and see what they can build for you.
