After Gig ramp down

Most of my gigs are relatively local (within an hour of home) and are done by 10 pm. I am not tired and am still "keyed up" about the gig. So, after getting home, I go to our band's Facebook page and thank the establishment and those who came to see/hear/support us. Then have a bite to eat, a beverage of choice and head to bed. At almost 60 years of age, playing is still as exciting as it was when I was 16...and I think it will always be that way!

Got in at 2:30 this morning. Ate the other half of the cheesesteak I got at the gig, had a couple beers and a hit of something nice, put in the earbuds, got into bed without waking the Significant One and fell asleep listening to a youtube documentary on Vermeer. The details vary from week to week, but that's pretty much the routine.

Usually the drive home is all I need to get ready to fall asleep. Unloading the van and putting everything back in the house can be a real chore when all you want to do is crawl in a hole and sack out. I burn a lot of energy on stage, so winding down isn't usually that much of an issue. When it is, I curl up with the latest exciting installment of the International Building Code. It's a page turner for sure, but it puts me out before I get past the cover.

Bass masters! Have you ever got home from a gig at 3 AM and you are all ramped up from the gig and just cannot sleep?? I try and relax to some old soft rock like "what a fool believes" and a 6 pack. But man all that rock and roll and a adrenaline keeps a cat up at night! Some of you are home in bed by 10!
dang
Leaving for work at 6am in the morning, makes it much easier to find the bed appealing. Hyped or no.
