After LMII? I find no replacement....

Have you seen the frequency chart for the "LOW" control on LMII? It affects broad range of frequencies up to (almost) 1 kHz. Just sayin'...
Exactly this^. I read lots of posts where people don't understand this point and believe the EQ controls only work at that specific frequency. The below graphs show the wide EQ variations available on the LM2/3 and many other Markbass heads.

No, I have specific need to boost/cut around 40Hz, to subtract low mids with the Gretch or Precision, and to add some high mids in general. I have tried a number of other amps with other EQ designs (ie Fender tobe stack or regular three band, fixed or sweepable), and it does not work. The only exception is my EBS 1V2, where the sweepable three band EQ will create the low mid dip by boosting low end and higher mid.

Quilter plus EQ pedal might work, but then it is more stuff and more tweaking, so not that convenient. It will also be expensive.
By the way, inserting a Rane 30 band EQ in the Ninja effect loop showed the Ninja shortcomings are not limited to EQ, but also to transients and distortion/modulation/artifacts from the power amp.

Interesting. Do you think that you'll need to do those same tweaks regardless of what you're getting from your head?

It's a common assumption that you'll need to tweak your next head like your current one. For example, the BB800 has a depth control... how would that affect your Gretsch or Precision? It also has mid cut and treble rolloff. How might that affect your basses?

These heads don't work like other heads... for good reason.

It's yout choice...so I don't want to persuade you.

I just want to point out that BB802 has similar EQ points to that of LMII for low mids (300 v 360 Hz) and high mids (1000 v 800 Hz).

As regards EQ (center) points for lows and highs, I used to be picky too. Than I looked at frequency charts and realized that for lows and highs, the frequencies stated by manufacturers are only center points. The knobs usually affect broad range of frequencies. Since then, I don't pay much attention to stated frequencies for lows and highs.

Good luck!

Exactly. Unfortunately many try to read how a head will sound.

I'm usually good at taking my own advice about not setting a new head like a current one right off the bat. The last time that bit me was with my Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0. I set the two left side gains at 12 o'clock because hey, it's 12 o'clock. It was okay but I wasn't blown away. Then one day I experimented and bumped both a little and the clouds parted. My prior dissatisfaction had been wholly caused by...

me.

Ok, so I am an EE, have been playing bass for 25 years and doing FOH longer, have gigged with a number of different amps and used more at home, I have used my cabs for almost 10 years, the LMII longer.
I know my EQ needs. The LMII is not perfect for that, low mids at 250 would be better, high mids at 1 kHz as well.
However, as most bass cabs roll off around 50Hz or higher, many amps have a bass control set WAY too high for my rig, an octave or more above my needs.
Dig out the Reidmar user manual and look at that bass curve (as an exqmple of a more conventional three band EQ.) Sounds horrible in my rig, even making the 12:th fret of the D string fatter and a bit bloated
But thanks for adding the graphs, if they can help other readers.

Might need to order one of those as well, given there is a generous return policy.

I replaced my LM11 firstly with a TTE500/801 and then a Quilter BB800.

I never used the eq on the LM2 apart from the filters and the Quilter EQ is really effective and easy to dial in.
I use the Quilter alone when I require a more transparent tone and add a Quilter Interbass before it if I want to get closer to my TTE801 tone.

Given the OP is an EE, I would just recommend he put his skills to work and design his own preamp and put the filter types (shelving, peaking, low pass, high pass, etc.) exactly where he likes and needs them and then just purchase his favorite power amp based on his vast PA experiences and call it a day.

My preamp needs are well met by the very common Markbass amps, as found in LMIII/III, LM800, Big Bang, Ninja etc. Nothing else needed, power section is the culprit, which seems hard to crack.
As I said, I already have a rack mount rig, now looking for a new, compact, single item alternative to the LMII.

Eich, Glockenklang and maybe Aguilar 700 might work? Quilter 800 with an external EQ?

Fair enough. So why not consider using the Markbass as a preamp driving your favorite power amp. I believe they’re light and small enough not to add too much to your rig hauling, for lack of better terms, and then you can isolate and choose the power section that best meets your performance and tonal goals. Just a thought for what it may be worth. Good luck either way!

Edit: just read you have a rack mount rig. Missed that.

That's where center points for Bergantino Forte amps are stated. I don't have personal experience with Bergantino amps but they get great reviews here on TB (and elsewhere).

You can ask the man himself (Jim Bergantino) while he is still here in this thread...

Btw: I have personal experience with Berg cabs and they are world class, IMO.

Edit: from what I read in the Bergantino BlAmp manual, you can choose center points for each of the four EQ controls...

The brand is not represented at all in this country, and the amps are also not listed with Thomann. If there is no representation in Sweden, I am not that interested, especially in a software based amp.
Overseas shipping is crazy expensive from Sweden.

Thomann is on the list of international dealers for Bergantino...together with several other retailers from Denmark, Germany, Italy and UK...

That was a 2018 clip, so I guess it is the class D version of the LMIII? Not apples to apples, if so.
Other than that, they are fairly similar. The LMIII is not as clean sounding in the low mids (is the aggie scooped there?), and slightly grainier in the highs, at least via my AKG K-271.
AG700 is def. worth a closer look. Thanks for the tip, @SJan3!

The class D amps from Markbass sound clearly different from the LMII, and also different from my QSC PLX and RMX amps, which are my references, LMII aside.

Not interested in another class D discussion, as my goal is finding a partner to the LMII....

New? Gently used? Budget? I have no idea what LMII is, but I see you are using a QSC which I’m going to assume is a power amp that would require a preamp. If that is the case, Eden makes a great preamp (Navigator which I own) often found used, and they have a World Tour Pro version new for a lot more money, both are light and are 2 units.

if you are looking for an integrated amp, there are darn few of them with at least a 3 band midrange parametric game EQ, Mesa and Eden are two. There are several more with EQ sliders.
