Agathis-Built Basses?

I doubt you need 500k pots, you just need decent pots. Bayou Cables sells a decent set, in fact you can get the whole wiring harness from them (all the wires plus the pots, pre-assembled and soldered), which you only have to solder to the pickups. You might even be able to find some CTSor Japanese Fender pots on eBay for cheap.

For pickups, you also don't need specifically the EMGs, and you don't (shouldn't IMO) need to spend a lot of money on the pickups. The stock pickups may even be perfectly fine, but check for used Fender American pickups, should be able to grab a set for $50 here on TB or eBay.

All I'm saying is, that 500k's will make the tone a bit brighter, if thats what he wants.

Well, I ordered some 500k pots to have overnighted, I found them new for about 1.50 a piece. They are *Supposedly* metered at exactly 500k, but I'm going to have my uncle, who's good at electronics, double check. But, I think the whole reason I'm getting this 'fuzzy' problem is my pots are dirty. It's been that way on the volume for day one, and it's just started on the tone. But I think these pots are rated at 250k, considering they're single-coil pickups.

If you notice a lack of "shine" when you're playing alone, have you tried turning down the lows a bit on your amp? By design, P basses aren't exactly the brightest basses available.

I'm not wanting bright like harsh bright.

Just a little Brighter, like when I do slap, I like hearing the POP of the string.

I can't hear that in my P-bass, even with tone knob rolled up.
