Of the choices you listed, I would vote in this order:
- Spector Legend
- EBMM SUB
- G&L Tribute L2500
- Schecter Stiletto
Of course, this is based on my opinions regarding modern, aggressive tone. Spectors just sound "right" to me. They cut through walls of heavy guitars and they sound deep without sounding muddy. Lots of heavy, modern bands use Spectors for these reasons. The SUB has a great tone to it as well which will work for that situation, and don't let anyone sell you that a bass with a single-p/u isn't versatile.
As far as the G&L, it probably is more versatile than any of the other choices you listed. However, you need to make sure it has the main tone you want and lots of it. I had a Bongo HH once, which has a plethora of great tones to choose from, almost too many. One thing I did not find in the Bongo was the tone that was in my head. I later found that tone in a Spector Euro 5-string. So the G&L, like the Bongo, my be versatile. Just make sure you can find 1-2 tones that are as close as possible to the voice in your head. Because all the versatility in the world won't replace that if it isn't there. I've played a couple USA L2500s and I can see why some like them. But, they didn't float my boat at all. They definitely have their merits, just not for me.
I have yet to play a Schecter that I've liked. They sound kind of dull and lifeless to me. However, I think they could be better with a preamp upgrade. An Aguilar OBP-3 would probably do alot to improve the tone. They all feel nice to me, they just sound kind of anemic. If you are into upgrading or customizing, this might be a good option.
