Aguilar 2xGS112 vs Goliath III

Hi there,
just wondering if you guys have had any experience comparing these?

I prefer the Hi-Fi sound. At the moment, I'm a happy owner of the Goliath III. I plug it into the great SM400. The sound is great to my ears althoug it's a little too 'dry' for me.

The reason of my question is the Goliath's weight. I've got some problem with joints.

I'm just wondering, if is it worth to sell the Goliath and buy an another cab(s) - a pair of Aggie GS112?

Could you compare these two?
Will the Aggie be as loud and fast as the Goliath? More/less punchy? What about lowend and midrange?

I was in the same boat as you are a few years ago -- happy Goliath III user looking to get lighter and smaller and, while I was happy with my tone, was open-minded to the posibility that I could find something that sounded better.

I ended up going the Schroeder route because I discovered my tonal goals had changed more than I thought, but I was VERY close to purchasing a Bergantino AE212 before I made that decision. The one I tried out, to me, sounded basically like a better version of what my SWR was trying to do. Same "hi-fi" overall tone profile, but a little tamer on the highs and much richer in the mids, resulting in a much more balanced sound.

The AE line no longer exists, but from what I understand (someone correct me if I'm wrong), the CN line is what currently fills that role. Hopefully someone that actually made the jump to own these can chime in.

But yeah, I'd at least consider Bergantino for what you're describing.

I've never heard about Bergantino. Mainly because it's a little-know name in my country and almost unavailable as used.
I should've emphasised that the price does matter and I don't like neo-speakers. I'm going to spend about 550-580$ for an one cab.
The prices in my country look as follows (used cabinets):

- Goliath III - 530-580$
- Aguilar GS112 - 530$
- Bergantino CN112 (the only one for sale as used) - 790$

So... I can't afford the Bergantino and I have to be focused on other cabs like Aguilar, SWR, Eden, EBS.

How could you compare cabs like 2x112 and 1x212? Do they sound almost the same?

Keep the Goliath, get accupuncture. Try staying off gluten for 30 days, your joint issues may vanish.
the GSs wont be as loud or full. the tweeter sounds inferior to the Goliath. In my opinion the GSs are very mid scooped by design. All the good mid articulation and punch are missing.

I've owned both. Get a good padded cover for the Goliath and gently roll your cab step by step up or down stairs.

If you don't like Neo speakers, than you're probably on the right track with the 1x12s, as a ceramic 2x12 will still be pretty heavy. I have never run a 2x112 rig, so I can't help much there with suggestions :\

I do know, however, that Eden has 1x12 XLT cabs. And the XLT series, to my ears, always had a sort of similar tonal profile to the SWR speakers, albeit a little more "beefy."

I ran an SM400S into a Henry 8x8 for fifteen years. I loved the sound, though it was a bit "hi-fi" and there weren't many variations on the basic tone.

I now have a pair (three, actually) GS112s. They are admittedly a bit mid-scooped but I find that with a WT-800 (not very different than a SM400) I have zero problems cutting through a guitar/keys/drums mix on stage. I thought that I would never move away from smaller drivers but the GS112s are plenty "fast" (transient response).

The aggies will be a little softer and squishier sounding, and will sound really good with that head. That head has all the midrange eq you could ever want so you will have no problem dialing in a tone. If you can find aguilar db112s ... those are even better.

I'm sorry, I haven't written for a while. I had many things going on.

Finally, I've decided to collect more many and go with the Bergantino HD series.
If I don't find the used Bergantino, I will buy an Aggie cab
