Aguilar AG 700 - 4 Ohm + 8 Ohm cabs - Does anyone run this combination?

First gig with the whole rig will be at a bar next weekend, but it's a little on the smaller side so I have to make sure I don't rattle the customers fillings loose. ;) The true test will be in 2 weeks when I have an outdoor gig with no PA support. From what I've experienced in the living room test run I think I'll be ok.

Cool. I thought the 210 might add a fair bit of beef -- not like two 410s, true, but half-again the speaker area can make a big difference in comfort and presence when you're "almost there" to begin with.

Two things: It won't look as pretty, but you can play around with turning the 210 on its side -- walk around the rig and see what you think. If the difference isn't worth the ensuing aesthetic chaos, it's a cheap experiment and easily-enough reversible.

If you find yourself on a gig with both cabs and feel that it's just too much, you can try unplugging one or the other. (Flip-side: don't forget that one is unplugged and try to compensate by cranking the volume into the remaining, plugged-in cab.)

Let us know how the gig goes!

That is a great looking rig all around...very professional. I'm confident that it won't disappoint in your upcoming gigs. Congratulations!

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to give that a try and see if it make a difference. I will definitely give a gig report of the 1st bar and 1st outdoor gig with the new speaker combination.

Thanks so much. I'm very pleased with the looks as well. The rig sounds amazing. I'm extremely pleased overall with everything about the rig.

I finally had my outdoor gig (in a pavilion) with the AG700, 4ohm SL410x and the 8ohm SL210 and no PA support. The rig handled the gig beautifully. One of the guitarists went out into the crowd and he said my bass was very defined and he could clearly hear each note that I was playing. He said the rig sounded amazing and was very tight with no muddiness whatsoever. With the 210 turned on its side it put a speaker closer to ear level and really helped me hear myself so I didn't have to dig in hard to hear myself which saved a lot of wear and tear on my fingers (we played two sets - 2 hours each set). I am extremely pleased with the versatility of this rig, but in all honesty I will probably play the 2 cabs for most gigs, but will just watch my volume at the smaller shows. Thanks again for all of the suggestions that lead me to the choice of adding the 8 ohm 210 cab to the rig. Here is an action shot from yesterdays gig.

Yup - She's a keeper! Thanks again for the suggestion of setting the 210 on it's side. That worked out really well, especially since it also has rubber feet on one side as well as the bottom of the cab. ;)
