Aguilar DB925 or MXR Thump?

MXR M81 Bass Preamp. Completely transparent and very versatile. It's clean and unassuming, it's not a big character pedal...more hi-fi clean. What goes in comes out type of thing but with oodles of very clean gain and EQ. Input and output gain stages, 3 band EQ with mid frequency sweep. There's a switch on the inside that flips buffered or non buffered. Transformer DI on the side. It's small and very easy to power...what's no to love here.
The MXR Thump is a great preamp, but it's got a colour to it's tone. It's basically an xotic EP booster with added mids control.

I was also going to say the Thump's sound has its own baked in flavor and no way to EQ it out. As GMC said the MXR M81 is very transparent and has a lot of versatility with its EQ section . I have one on my board and it is always on.
Since you asked specifically about the DB925, it would be worth pointing out that it is also not designed to be "uncolored", because Aguilar's biggest selling point is "the Aguilar sound".
If you were looking specifically for pedals in this small form factor, I think the Aguilar would have less color than the Thump, or at least more control over that color with the two-band EQ. But you might be just as well off with a clean boost like the Spark Mini.

I would like a pedal where I can boost the bass and the treble, I want to retain the natural mids of both my instruments so I would prefer something with less knobs. So in a sense I’m looking for simple boost with bass and treble control. Any other pedals come to mind?

The Xotic RC Bass Booster is a real clean boost (its name) with a Baxandall tone stack in the form of Bass and Treble controls. Gain can be cranked but distortion won't be added. Volume knob does it what does. I use mine front of chain always-on. Fantastic tone enhancer, no color nor distortion.
It replaced other pedals I used as front of chain preamps. I play passive basses too. Makes them come alive.
