Aguilar Pickups

I have been running the AG-4P60 in a Fender FSR Ash Precision for a few months and I echo other bass players comments here. Very musical pickup, strong midrange, very punchy. Polished highs plenty of usable bass. Some pickups go deeper but the usability becomes limited at that stage. Also very warm sounding. It's the kind of pickup that grows on you rather than jumping at you because it's flashy and has a lot of sizzle. This pickup is more about substance and balance. It is also really well matched to my bass. I had tried a SD Antiquity II and the marriage was less compelling than this pickup.

I walked away from the experience that the pickup has to sound good but it also has to be well matched to the instrument.

I'm shipping for a P pickup and these descriptions here sound intriguing. I have a 70 P, and I have a Lollar in it currently. The Lollar is fine, but I've been using it in every main bass I've had since 2010. I wanna try something different.

Aguilar hand wound?

I am very stoked after reading these comments. I just ordered the Aguilar PJ set for an all Koa Peavey Unity I just purchased. It has EMG's, but I have several EMG loaded basses and wanted a fully passive setup.

I am very much looking forward to this matchup.

I ordered them through Amazon, which is competitively priced but will include tax. I only did it because I have their plastic and had a bunch of points which not only offset that but got me a better price overall.

I saw a set on ebay with the same price and less than $3 shipping (+ no tax). I'd have done that otherwise.

Be sure to come back and share some thoughts on them once you get the set in. There hasn't been a lot of reviews or much said on the Aggie PJ set, probably because its relatively new. I love Aggie stuff so much that its inevitable I'll consider picking up a PJ set for my Shifter Classic at some point in the future, but it would still be nice to hear some comments on them first.

I couldn't find anything on them either other than the advert. But I have numerous basses with their OBP pre's, love 'em and have faith in their products. I like the idea that it's designed as a balanced set (I'm sure others are as well). I just think they'd put a lot of thought in before jumping into this pool. So, that coupled with the little I've found on their other models (see above) made me pull the trigger.

It may take a couple of weeks to get this all together but I'll be sure to pass along my impressions.

I just installed some aguilar 60's J pickups from bestbassgear.com last Thursday. I had a chance to gig out with them this weekend and they sound beautiful. The highs are very sweet and musical with no harshness. Lows are full without being bloated. Bridge pickup nails the Jaco sound. I have owned Antiquity II's, Aero's, and Fender 62 reissues and I like these the best so far.
