I emailed with Aguilar back in mid May and was told they would ship in a week from then. Then I emailed this week and was told mine was supposed to be shipped "at the latest, early next week".
I'm repeating my post from the specific thread addressing these in case you missed it.
I just put a set of these into my Warmoth and had a chance to try them for the first time this past weekend. I'm running them passive, V-V-T with a .047 cap.
They do have a nice high end, but my preference is with the highs rolled off about 30%. I don't care for a hi-fi sound - I like more of a vintage vibe.
These pickups are pretty hot - lots of output. I liked the neck at about 85% and the bridge at about 70%. It gave me a very solid, muscular bottom with excellent definition. Being the bridge pickup is hum canceling you can dial in any ratio of pickups without any concern for noise.
The bridge pickup is very evenly matched tonewise to the neck. Its tone is not as thin as a regular single coil and dialing it in doesn't provide treble so much as an upper mid grunt. The tone control gives whatever zing you want to add. The mid presence is excellent.
I used this bass with a Thunderfunk 550B/Baer ML112 and a GK800RB/Aguilar GS212 with the tweeter rolled back. Both gave me excellent focused low end with a nice punch that cut the mix easily. I used very little EQ in both cases and got exactly what I was looking for. It really sounded very smooth. I had a new set of Dunlop 50-110's on it and the E string was like a hammer - real kapow. I hope it stays that way when I go back to 105's.
I am very happy with this set so far and feel they fully meet my expectations, producing the tones I want easily for the stuff I play. It looks like Aguilar really thought their pickup line through.

I will buy a set of Aguilar AG70s soon and put them in my 72 Jazz bass, my original bridge pick up expired and instead of having it immediately repaired I will opt for these Aguilars 70s Jazz bass pickups.
I visited their website but their info is not complete, for instance there is no DC reading specs unlike S Duncan's pickup demo. I wish they update their pickup specs.and add sound files.

I just threw an aguilar 60's p pickup in a squier CV to use for touring/backup for my 64 fender, both have TI Jazz flats and I could barely tell them apart with someone else playing, the only real differences between the two now are the feel of the neck and the look, but that squier has gotten gigged pretty heavily since changing the pickup and it is fantastic, they did a really great job with it.
I just put a set of the 4J-70 pickups in my Geddy Lee bass and they sound great. I'm usually skeptcal about the added benefit of pickups but with these, they really did make a big difference versus the stock pickups. They are bright (but not clanky) and have a smooth bottom end. I also replaced the complete wiring harness with a pre-wired jazz bass harness from Best Bass Gear. The stock pots and capacitor were junk. The combination of all of this made a big difference. I am now looking to get the 60's version for my Road Worn jazz. These pickups are awesome.
I have to say I was skeptical that an "amp" company could make good pickups but I am a believer now. Never judge a book by it's cover. These are great pickups!

I finally installed my Aguilar AG70 bridge pick up to replace my substitute Quarter Pounder neck pickup that i placed on the bridge slot.
Man, the first thing I noticed from the Aguilar was its magnets seemed so weak and the sound coming out from my ACOUSTIC 140 amp and EV speakers set at no.3 was barely audible, I thought I got a fake Aguilar, however when I turned it up to 4 - 5 , man I was floored by the quality!!!!!
It nailed the old vintage 60s vibe w a more pronounced 70s bite. Unbelievable! After all these years of playing Fenders, and learning from guys like you, now I know that an AGUILAR vintage like pickup doesn't have to be "LOUD and heavily magnetized" to make its mark.
I left the old 72 original Jazz Bass neck pickup, and its combination with an Aguilar is really great. I will just fix up my work and health issues and hopefully record a video for you.
I will install the neck pick up soon to compare it w my original stock 72 .
I will replace my old 1989 Wilkinson bridge and install the original Fender '72 bridge, modern bridges are too pristine but reduce the wood vibe, although i am aware of its sustain (imaginary or not).
Only the simple looking bridge has that wood growl...hard to explain to the newer players raised on Badasses et al...nevermind the extra 2 holes I bored just to accommodate the Wilkinson. I hope the old bridge covers them up.

Yesterday afternoon I installed a pair of Aguilar DCB pickups (D2 size) in my Ibanez SR-705, and wow! I like these a lot!
They are everything Aguilar advertises them to be - very powerful, very detailed & very balanced in tone at all points up & down the register. They have a very solid and supporting low end without being mushy and a great attack/growl, just amazing! They are deep & focused without being muddy, nor compressed sounding - I'd say they are aggressive in all the right ways.

I just got a set to install in an Ibanez GVB36. However, neither pickup is marked as bridge or neck. Were yours marked?
Hey everybody, I just now found this thread after swapping the stock Lakland pickups in my Skyline 55-60 with some AG 5J-HC's. I recorded some before and after comparisons. I'm digging the clarity of the Ag's!!

DCB set arrived the other day. Dropped them into the GVB36. I can confirm that it doesn't matter which pickup goes in which position. They're universal. I can also report they fit and screwed in without any modifications or drilling to the bass.
Only weird thing to report is that the wires on one pickup were coming out of the opposite side. On one pickup the wires are nearest to the logo (bottom right hand side) as expected, but on the other they came out of the opposite side.
I put that pickup in the neck position and the wires barely stretched from the B string side into the cavity. I had to solder on some extensions so they'd make it to the blend knob on my OBP-3. Not sure why it's wired that way.
Anyway, they're great pickups! Takes that bass up a notch. Ibanez really skimps on the stock electronics on that bass. Which I find annoying considering its $1K+ new.

You used to have a Fender SB if I recall? How do the Aguilar pickups compare to the SB's? Also, do they have those sharp pole pieces? Those are killing me on my SB, and I'm thinking of swapping in the Aggies.
Yep, the SB is long gone and the AG 6J have no pole piece issues.
They are being installed tomorrow so i'll have a good sense of the difference soon.
BTW i wound up getting the pups from www.bestbassgear.com
Dropped the AG 6J pups in yesterday and they sound great. Vintage J bass tone with no noise! Not a fan of logos on pickups so the name is blacked out.

The answer is no - there were no bridge/neck markings, or indicators on either pickup.
I got a hold of Aguilar about this a while back. They said they are not marked because it doesn't matter which pickup goes in which position.

Thanks for confirming that - I was wondering myself and just kinda went with the notion that a company like Aguilar would have indicated with markings if it mattered. Good to know the official word. I know they sure sounded right after the installation!

Yeah, the Ibanez that I put those pickups in with an OBP-3 is night and day difference. I wouldn't have kept the bass otherwise, the stock MK-1's were pretty bad. It already had an OBP3 installed by the previous owner. Since the change, I've been playing it almost exclusively!
