Aguilar SL Series Cab Pairing

Hello fellow bassists!

I need some help on deciding on which Aguilar cabinets to get. They will be paired with either an AG700 or a TH700.

Here are my thoughts at the moment.

SL 210 with a Sl115
2x SL112
SL112 with a SL115 (Don't know about this one)

I know the obvious answer would be to try them all, but no where near me has these in stock, or the option to order them in without paying a deposit.

I'm aiming for a versatile rig that can range from thumpy vintage sounds to modern fusion to rock.

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. If you have any thoughts on which amp to choose I'll gladly take them too! ;)

Thanks! :)

Aguilar cabs pair very well with each other. I have used DB112 cabs paired with GS112 cabs. I have put a single 112 on top of a 410. Of your specific suggestions the safest bet would be the two SL112s but any of those combinations would likely work fine. I prefer the Tonehammer 500 but it has a bit of a learning curve that seems to put some off. For better or worse, with Aguilar stuff you have to use your ears.

Not knocking the SL's, but the DB's are more my thing... DB412, DB410, and DB212 all kick ass. Is there a reason you are selecting the SL?

Yeah - the light weight. I play both double bass and bass guitar and some gigs a acoustic (except me) so the possibility for a smaller setup is what I need. So I was thinking to get a SL115 to pair with or have an SL112 or 212.

Wow that's cool, do you put your standup through the TH500? I think the consensus on TB is adding a cab of the same brand and driver is surefire, that is if you are pleased with one, two will naturally sound solid. Me, I kinda like the idea of having of the SL112 and the SL115. this way you can have more choices for recording and if/when you only need one cab, you have a choice. Regarding compatibility 112+115, if I were you, maybe a quick call/email to Aguilar and ask about compatibility. There were few similar posts were I was curious about that very same question.

Any updates to this decision? I'm on the same path, considering what cab to pair with TH500 for upright and electric playing. What did you go with?
