Aguilar Super Doubles - who knows stuff?

Dave, the information I saw was that they were wired in series. No indication they'll offer them in any additional sizes at this point, and they've already indicated they won't do custom spacing so I assume that is also a sign they won't do custom sizes.
I still want to know if this pickup is in series or parallel, and if they will offer it in an EMG size shell. I might like to try them my Sadowsky...

I've got a set coming for a build of mine.. The super singles are pretty nice.. Cant wait to see the Double.

I highly doubt it's wired in parallel most likely in series to allow more output.

I emailed them about it and this is what they answered:

"if you have the right amount on each coil to make up a good sounding hum canceling pickup, it will be too little amount of wire when you “split” the pickup. If you put the right amount of wire on a single coil design and then add a second coil, you’ll have too much wire on the pickup."
makes sense, you'll note that the nordstrand versions of this idea come in both a series and a parallel version, wound differently; the parallel version will sound better when split while the series version would have a big volume drop.

it is too bad they won't do them 4-conductor; a very cool trick with dual series 'buckers on a bass is to wire them to a 3-way such that the middle setting is one coil from each pickup in series with the other.

it keeps the hum-canceling and has the same relative output as each whole pickup by itself, while creating a decent variation on a J-bass tone, maybe better than both pickups still humbucking and just paralleled to each other.

I ordered mine from Aguilar directly but I have a dealer/builder account with them.. I ordered back on April 22nd and was told then that they were a little behind on the Super Doubles and that it'd be back order, which is fine with me as the build they're going in is still not near complete. But most likely BBG is having the same wait for the back order, although I don't know why so much longer unless his order is large.

Here they are. Very nice pickups, I like that the coils aren't set in with epox, which will make putting them in top matching covers easy. I can't wait to hear them.
