Aguilar Tone Hammer 350

Even at less than full power @ 8ohms, this amp seems way under-rated in terms of power. Feels more like a 500watt amp to me. No deep-low roll-off either, like I experienced with first generation GB Shuttles. The Aggie just kept punching hard all night! Im not even sure if the fan came on.

Bandmates couldn't believe that something so small & light could sound so big! Shoot,.. me either!

Feels like a toy, but sounds like a cannon. Good work, Aguilar!

Well, I've now played the same (bad) room with this head twice through two different cab setups. The room's medium sized, loud, and hard (cement walls and floor/no soundproofing). It seems to eat low end. First time was with two fairly efficient 15s at 4 ohms. Didn't even break a sweat. Plenty of everything I needed on tap. Second time was one 15 at 8 ohms. Plenty loud, but I ran out of head room and couldn't get lows to where I really wanted them. Strangely, I still got plenty of complements on my tone the second time around. Hands down, the best thing about this head, for me, is how naturally it sits in the mix playing with loud rock bands.

Yup, the 350 has exceeded my expectations in volume, headroom and even tone!

Used it last night at a medium size room- The Rams Head in Annapolis. Never even warmed up my 200w tube head. Sounded great, never heard the fan & was cool to the touch after a rocking 90 minute set.

I was trepidacious if the 350 would be enough power for me. It has put my mind at ease! What an amazing amp!

Could it possibly be the case that it isn't "worth it" to pay the extra $200 or so to move up to the TH500? I mean, save that money and you are almost half way to buying a second TH350!

I'm getting the sense from some of these recent real-world reviews that the TH350 can more than handle its own in reasonably sized gigging (and practicing) situations and environments...and for those bigger rooms, there is always PA support.

Here I was, set on getting a TH500, but now maybe the TH350 makes more sense?!?

I'll report back with further experience. So far, the 350 just doesn't seem like it's really just 350!

In my band, I'm competing with a slightly deaf drummer with LOUD monitors & a guitarist running stereo AC30's or AC15's. It's not Marshall-stack metal loud, but it's definitely "get kicked out of the local blues jam" loud.

The real test will be to see how much is available on a festival stage with a 5-string. New Years eve, Im doing the big Nashville show opening for the Fray. Might see what it does there!

I've pretty much settled on the Aguilar TH 350 or 500. Not sure which though. I'll be playing with 2 guitarists and a fairly loud drummer in a straight ahead rock and roll gig, mostly playing in small to medium clubs. I haven't decided on cabs yet but I'm thinking I could go with the 350 and a Berg NV610 and be able to cover everything. But what about a couple 12's or a 2X12?
