I started getting into songwriting as therapy. Turns out I'm a pretty decent lyricist, but I'm terrible at musical arrangements. Hell, I'm a terrible musician, not gonna lie.

So I plug my lyrics into an AI music generator (Iron Requiem | Join me on Suno) just to see how they sounded. Got to play around with different genres of music i normally wouldn't have. Really helped expand my musical interests.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you. In other words, I can write lyrics and have a definite melody in my head, but since I don't play guitar, keyboards, or drums, I'm limited to what I can do. So, I'm pondering exploring AI generated music in order to "create" a demo-track that my band/other musicians may be interested in pursuing (recording).

My band leader has been a tremendous help in getting 3-of my songs recorded (more or less with the melodies I envision). However, now he pretty much wants me to send him the lyrics and he will come up with the melody (I'm uncomfortable with that).

Anyways, I'm sensing that AI has, so far, been a positive experience for you.

Aside from expanding your musical interests, is there any other comments that come to mind when experimenting with AI?

Experimenting with AI has been a mixed bag for me. I find I delete more results than I'm happy with, probably by a 5:1 margin. With some songs, no matter what prompts I give or however many times I have it generate something, it just doesn't work. It does seem to be learning my preferences, which is nice.
But once it generates something I like, i can plug it into other programs that can isolate or strip tracks. Helps me transcribe bass lines.

There's still the downside that AI is unpredictable. It mispronounced words, especially homonyms. It tends to repeat verses and doesn't follow the song structures. It's a decent source for putting together an idea of a song, though I often still have to trim, fade, and do other audio edits outside the confines of the AI music generator.

Also, my experience is limited only to Suno.

This is a video using photography of the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. I primarily used the generative fill feature to extend the photos so there would be more room around the subject for rotation, and zooming in to the image.



I have also been using DALL-E and Flux for text to image creation. Here are two book covers created in Flux.

Thank you! It's been a bit of a love/hate relationship with DALL-E. There are very specific requests at work for how things should look on our projects. I've noticed DALL-E has a bias for women in tight skirts and high heels.

FWIW, i've found a bit of "love/hate" with any model, but yeah, DALL-E/others seems to require a learning curve and luck!

no kidding! i think a lot of the AI models go that way --- OTOH, it's easy to get a 'homely man' image!

Agreed! I've found that many images need to several prompts to create,.. most likely due to my lack of writing better prompts. For instance, if I need an image of a woman standing in her kitchen, looking out the window, with a neighbor looking out his window back at her; I will have to break that into several different images and then combine them in Photoshop.

Sometimes figures with a photo realistic prompt can look plastic.

yup --- i've been doing some "monkey playing bass in a tuxedo" themes: you can imagine the monkey's tail getting weird/lewd in some renderings!

i've been going for monkey images that tie in to my general look (white/grey beard, hat, etc.) so that i can use them for avatars. before my xmas avatar i was using my monkeys, but it took a while for me to find workable prompts.

my prompt on nightcafe:
"a monkey with a white beard, wearing a newsboy cap, sunglasses, and a white tuxedo is posing at a photoshoot holding his fretless electric bass guitar. color photo" --- juggernaut XL lightning model, prompt weight = 90%



my prompt on Tengr.ai was more complicated to get similar/acceptable results:
"a monkey with a long white beard is wearing a newsboy cap, dark sunglasses, and a white tuxedo as he pretends to play an electric bass guitar at a photo shoot. full-body (head to toe), plain light-colored background, bokeh, color photo Hyperrealistic, splash art, concept art, mid shot, intricately detailed, color depth, dramatic, 2/3 face angle, side light, colorful background"



in any event, i have to photoshop my own axes into the image because i have found no AI/prompt that consistently renders a fretless (with a monkey in a tuxedo! ).




once i found a prompt/formula, i've added "adoring beautiful women" because........ it's in my nature :
