Double Bass AI Coda problems

Excuse my ignorance, but I could use some advice from someone who knows a bit about what constitutes good behaviour from an amp. I recently bought a new Acoustic Image Coda (around £1,000 in the UK), to replace my very old Gallien Krueger Mk2, whose speaker was making a noise like it couldn't cope anymore. After 2 months with the Coda - using a Realist on my bass - I've been getting a similar noise. Not all the time, but specifically if I keep the volume control low and play HARD, which is what I prefer to do, to get the sound and connection with the instrument I want (I mostly work in small clubs/bars with small bands). I'm thinking, have I blown the speaker already? I read, and was told, that this amp is one of the best available in terms of getting an authentic double bass sound combined with portability, and I'm happy with the bass sound I get from it. Are speakers like human bodies - they tell you when you're demanding too much from them, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they're broken? Or could I have damaged the speaker already?
Best wishes
