Thank you Fender05...very nice of you to say! We appreciate the sponsorship and it was great to have a real bass player test drive it! I know what you mean about fretless (though I thought you did great)....I own one and half the time when I start playing it I think I'd be better off swapping it out for something else. Mine has lines which make it a lot easier, but if I try to follow a tablature while playing I sound awful.

Speaking of detail, did you notice the tire tracks going across the number 38 by the controls? Axetreme Creations' graphic artist really went wild with this one. We asked for a PG with lots of planes on it and determined the overall shape (wrapping around the bridge pickup and with minimal overlap on the body runway, but most of the details on the PG were Axetreme's ideas. We did a lot of email brainstorming and ended up with a dozen versions before settling on this one).

As a retired sailor let me say that is wickedly cool!! I've spent plenty of time on "the roof" so it hits close to home and brings back memories.
I think it would have been cool to use a single MM pickup and make it the JBD (Jet Blast Deflector), place an F/A-18 directly in front of it in afterburner like it's getting ready to take off and run the Bow Cats down the neck like you did. Place the island right around the controls area. An anchor chain themed cord, although nearly impossible to create, would be exceptionally cool!

Thanks for the complement and the ideas, some of which we may try to use on a future build! We have never repeated a theme, but this one we might. For the chain/cord, we could just buy some chain at the hardware store and thread the cable through it. We tried to think of a way to do a removable island but ended up letting the controls "represent" the island. I thought about painting my vox amplug to look like an island but didn't really like how it looked. I like the MM pickup idea and it would give us an excuse to try out a tri-coil version of that.

I was never in the military, so some of your remarks are over my head, but we'll seek out ideas from you and other Navy guys if/when we reprise this one. I just asked Nick at Axetreme if he would be up for doing another one at some point. The answer was yes, kinda. He said that doing our neck was about the most stressful thing he has ever done and is not ready to repeat the experience just yet.
