Al Cisneros of OM ans Sleep

Just got home after 16h of nonstop travelling after finally whitnessing Sleep play in Stockholm.

I first got hooked when dopesmoker was originally released back in the day and I must say IMHO that I prefer Chris Hiakus drumming to Jason Roeders.

I used to own a little bastard alltube head and with that driving a tiny 2×10 Ampeg cab and palying realy far up on the neck I could get close to Al's tone in my tiny home studio without going def.

So fast forward a budget studio version of his tone, splitter to Boss DS-1 signal to tube brick preamp?

I rely prefer his tone from the first two OM albums to what he sounds like these days..

I find him to be a very interesting player. Some people love his tone, some hate it. I think he makes it work very well in the context of his projects.
I won't pretend that I'm a life long fan of either Sleep or OM. I only got into them about 5 years ago. I dig OM because I can connect with the Gnostic and Buddhist ideas. He seems like sort of an odd cat.

Any other singlecoil bass out there that has a rickenbakerish tone apart from the peavey t-40?

Splitting the signal to two amps or two tracks, one dirty channel with the dod 250 and the other clean ube preamp, would be in the ballpark for his first three OM albums with chris hakius?

Standard E tuning with rotosound strings am I forgetting something?

Saw Sleep in Manchester a couple weeks back. Holy Mountain was beyond awesome. Face constantly being melted again and again. Love Sleep, Love OM, Love High On Fire!

Had to bring this one up again, but do you know what type of playing he mostly do? Scales or keys? I find he is almost just improvising alot.
