I love mine and the covers aren’t that bad for my style. I do really dig the way it looks with and without the bezels... both are nice.

Still, I am thinking about getting the bezels. I see a couple of sources for them. Is one better than the other?

Just send an email to Rickenbacker. As the owner of a 4003AC they'll send you two bezels for free.

I skipped a few of the pages of this thread (shame on me), so, sorry if somebody already did so, but could anyone maybe record a 'demo' of this bass? There is one for sale not too far away from where I live and I still hope that I dislike the sound of that bass enough to not drive there to test/buy it.

If this thread is still alive...got a 4003ac coming soon and wonder if anyone knows how the guitar looks without the pickguard?
is there bare wood 'unfinished' underneath, too many holes or routings, or other issues?

have to add for the doubters, I have to say the green markers look (to me) a lot nicer in person with the contrasting walnut wings, original, although apparently the green markers appear already in some stereo models.

I have a 1979 Jetglo 4001. If I remember correctly, you can't really take out the pickguard, as that's what holds the knobs in place and keeps everything nice and tidy. It's a lot like a stratocaster, in that sense.

I have and I was wondering if this is an unnumbered limited series or is it a numbered series? Because I can't find the production number on it. And it did not come with a certificate like my Chris squire Rick.

I was put on a list for one and did get one. But I am wondering about the production number. When I bought my Chris Squire signature it came with a certificate and production number on it. This does not. Does anyone know where or how to find the production number of the series? She is a beautiful bass and she plays and sounds great.

I think his having a 4001, and Al's happy picture with a 4005, are unrelated. Except for the basses' marque.
