For how I usually play, they would not be inhibitors.
Just picked one up from Wildwood yesterday. I dig it.
Interesting- just enough room between the pickups for a finger.

Cool looking bass, but those covers would be off it in a nanosecond, they are RIGHT over the best sweet spots on a Ric....unless you only play like Al Cisneros.
I was able to play one of these, and I hated the pickup covers. I don't mind the one on the 4003, but the cover on the neck pup for the AC bass was really annoying.
This is a cool bass. Different, that's for sure (even for a Rick).
I've seen Al Cisneros play it very close at their Sleep concert here in Europe a few weeks back.

Yeah, it takes solid aim to play in between there! The bezels should be arriving today so the 'play inhibitors' will go bye-bye.
Your AC's were supposed to come with bezels. I know they were initially shipped without as their molds had issues, so call Ric or make you dealer do the work and get your bezels. Mine arrived a week after buying the bass.
I recently purchased one of these 400ac's, mine didn't come with the bezels, are they the standard ones that you can get from rickebacker, i believe i ordered a set from ric boutique maybe, have them, just haven't try to install them, hoped they were all the same size
Yes they're all the same size regardless what Ric model bass you got.
Now the ones Ric is making is made from a rather rubbery vinyl. Where the ones you buy from shops like Pick of the Rics are made of a very hard plastic and are just made better and fit better.
