Been waiting for the picture. Really nice bass, looks almost exactly like my first Alembic, I have always wondered where it ended up. But, the serial number on mine was 82D 2349 or may be 2344, hard to read the last numeral on my copy of the build sheet. I can't quite make out your serial number but what I can see looks different. At any rate they may have both been made from the same board of Koa. Mica told me that back then Koa was dirt cheap even for the highly figured boards, that is no longer the case. Someday I hope to find a picture of my old bass, the only shot I have of me playing it on stage is from the side.

What kind of case did your Distillate come in? The one I had came in a black trapezoidal case with a gray interior. I have never seen another of those cases. If you haven't done so you should change the registration of ownership with Alembic and ask Mica if she can find the build sheet so you know the date the bass was finished AKA "it's birthday".

The case is a black rectangle that's way over-sized, but fitted.
Thanks, I'll check out the registration and get ahold of Mica.

The Balance K body is the most beautiful bass body on the planet, I have spoken!

As they say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" but I voted for the Balance K body with my wallet... First time I saw a Balance K Alembic I knew that if I were to get another Series bass it would have that body style. Not only did I love the way it looked and seemed to tie the old classic Alembic body vibe with the new but I was sure it would solve the ergonomic issues which are common with a lot of the earlier body shapes and bug me about my '78 small body Alembic.
