All about that bass NO TREBLE

Am i the only one who thinks that a bass live or at home sounds best with the treble knob on the amp turned all the way down i keep my amp flat but my treble off or next to none Thoughts on this

It might sound good to you, at home, solo.
But in a full band setting, you'd be lost in the mix.

And no, I personally don't think it sounds good without treble, or hi-mids for that matter.

The audience doesn't hear the sound from my amp, so how I turn the EQ knobs is only relevant to me as a stage monitor.

To specifically answer your question, the only knob I routinely turn down is the bass knob. Mids and treble flat.

Depends on your amp, bass, etc. Some amps use a passive tone stack where the treble is set flat when completely rolled off (old fenders, Hartke LH500/1000). Generally turning your treble off is mud city, and not being able to be heard in a live mix.

Bass for the rumble, treble to cut through and add clarity, and lots of mid for punch.

You have to have a well balanced tone to be effective.

I cut my highs slightly on my GK amp but my low and high mids are boosted.

I don't like a sharp high end so a slight cut smooths things out.

I would never put the knob all the way down though.

I like a little, but not much. I want just enough to hear the snap and I'm good. Mids are trebly enough

Does your bass have a tone control? This is my preferred method of dialing down the high end on my basses. I am all for smoothing out the clank, but I like to keep the amp knob twiddling to a minimum, personally.

I usually like my treble rolled back a bit and the bass and mids boosted about the same amount. I have consistently liked these settings on some very different basses- almost makes me wonder if it's all in my head

In other news, I have started to let up a bit on the tone knob on my P, so maybe I'm evolving? Dang, I love bass!

Personally, I love the bite. The grit. The piano-like quality. As a kid, before I even played bass, those growly bass tones were the ones that always attracted me, and were eventually a large part of the reason I took up the bass.

I turn down the low and mid low. The mid high and high stay at high noon. I guess in a reverse sense, it is the same as turning up the treble. If you know what I mean. LOL
