But... does this pedal have the Ampeg vibe? I'm looking for a front end for a power amp, and was wondering. Yesterday I played through an SVT4/410HLF and really liked it.

I recently did a gig where there was a full-on old school SVT as backline. I hadn't played one in years. It was nice, but honestly not great. It was deep and punchy, but didn't have the hefty low end that a lot of amps these days can generate. Then last weekend I used am SVT4 pro and HLF410, which I liked better - punchy with more low, low end, and actually clearer in the midrange. I used to have a PF 800 before it choked itself to death, but I liked it, too - I'd have a PF800 now if they were as reliable as other amps.

What I'm saying, if i can get that Ampeg Beef into my power amp, I think it'll do what I want.

The SCR-DI delivers what you're looking for. I go - tuner > SD compressor > SCR-DI > MXR M80 > new Crown Drivecore power amp > GenzBenz Neo 212T. Most of my EQing is done on the SCR-DI, minimal EQing on the MXR M80. I use some grit on the SCR-DI (gain 9am, blend 10am) and play fingerstyle in sloppy-ish Oi / hardcore / street punk band. All 12 songs (Coming Soon, by Hooligan Justice) were recorded this way (direct, not mic'd) with a Gibson Thunderbird with EMG CSneck, DCbridge.

Can I ask where the benefit of having the SCR and M80 is?
I tried an SCR Di and really enjoyed it and at some point think I could get rid of my M80 and the Pork Loin I use for drive and just use that

Ok....the short answer (not sarcastic!) is that it works for me.

Long answer....before I went to the pre / power amp set up I was running at least two other preamp pedals into the front of my GK1001RB II. I got really used to having the extra eq'ing capabilities (a total of 3 preamps including the amps preamp to work with). I knew when I went with the pre / power amp set up I'd want to use at least two pre amp pedals since I had gotten used to having those eq'ing possibilities. Admittedly it might seem like over-kill using the SCR-DI and MXR M80 together but I love the tones I'm getting. A lot of people don't like the mid scoop on the MXR M80 but I actually like it and use it 100% of the time. Most of my eq'ing is done on the SCR-DI but a little on the M80. My main purpose for using the M80 though is for the mid scoop and noise gate. SCR-DI settings - Drive 9am, Blend between 10:30am and 11:30am (depending on the bass), Volume full, Bass 8:00-8:30am, Mid noon, Treble Noon, Ultra Lo on, Ultra Hi off. MXR M80 settings - Clean volume not used, Volume full, Distortion blend cut, Trigger and Gain (I think full but I can't remember), Gate button on, Bass 9am, Mid cut, Treble 9am, Both Effect and Distortion buttons on. With both these pedal volumes on full and my power amp volume dimed as well I control the overall volume with my SD Studio Compressor pedal.

Great :thumbsup: I´m thinking about using the SCR at full volume and control the overall volume with the compressor.

I got one and yep, Ampeg vibe for sure. I like it. Even the dirt channel, which I seldom use. Now trying to figure out how to bump the output to line level so it can drive my power amp.

And about distortion coming from from the non-scrambler channel: I noticed mine was doing it too, but it seems to be a function of how high the volume is set. Back off the volume and it clears up. Much like an amp would do.

Used the line out , no problem . When I get back from a few days holiday , will check with another XLR cable .
Still got the distortion unless I use the -15 db jumper .
The distortion is at the input , because if I turn the volume down on the bass ( just a little ) the distortion goes away . The Warwick bass has a single Music Man type ( by MEC ) through Seymour Duncan three band eq . maybe too "hot" an output ?
May put a EHX signal pad at the input , just to calm it a bit .

You can lower the db's by moving a little pin under the bottom plate. It's in the manual.

I have both an SCR-DI and a BA210v2 combo. Their preamps function largely the same, but I notice the SCR-DI is more prone to input distortion. Specs show max gain @ 1Khz at 24 dB for the SCR-DI & 73dB for the BA210v2. I wonder if that is the reason for the difference? And I wonder why the combo is spec'd to handle so much more input gain?

I own this pedal and loooooove the sound but I have also this clipping issue with my Classic Stingray and my Hofner 500/1. Moving the jumper to -15db kills the lovely sound in my opinion. If anyone has a tip.....
I use a EBS Multicomp in front of it.

Solved the problem of an increase in volume , when switching the Ground lift on / off when using XLR .
Cheap XLR cable ! Used a quality cable - no increase .
Agree with bass.player above .....the -15 db kills the lovely Ampeg sound .
I am now awaiting delivery of a EHX Signal Pad , which I will put just in front of the input on the SCR-DI , to tame the input signal from my Warwick .
Some people will say , just back the volume off a tad on the Warwick , but to my ears , this alters the sound of the Warwick as well .
Anyhow , the EHX Signal Pad was cheap enough from ebay .
Let you know how I get on .....................

I just ordered a SCR to use for my fly dates with the Casey james gig. He was one of the american Idol musicians. We are doing runs with all IEMS for his record promo before the full tour starts with regular band and full horn section. .
The SCR is the only rig that i could think of that fits in a gig bag and has all the features that it has. Just a tuner , keeley bassist to match level, the SCR and pedal power fits in the gig bag.. Easy
