All the World is a Stage! Strange stages..

Did quite a few of the above. Usually more than once.

But the one that stuck to my mind was performing at a school for the deaf. (some were blind as well)
The teachers took turns leading the kids up to touch my bass cab
(I'd brought a big ol' traynor reflex 18" for lows)
Their smiles were something to behold when they felt the vibration.

Really felt like I accomplished something besides getting paid.......

The octagon. Yes I mean an actual MMA octagon ring.
It was rad.

I have no idea what ^^this^^ means.

Agree, we gotta hear about the Furry Convention gig.... We may have a winner here

Sorry for the delayed response. The story is that our guitarist's ex wife was a furry, nothing real out there like you imagine, just liked to dress up.

...

I will say, for the most part, furries are pretty cool people ... It is weird to be talking to a cute girl after the show and 10 minutes later you run into her as a cat, though.

I had no idea there were others of my kind and a place in this world for them...

:hiding:
Actually, it's my furrst time hearing about this... extension/branch/offshoot of cosplay.

Wow. That actually choked me up a bit. Just thinking about kids finding some way to connect to something we are all passionate about. Music is a magical thing. ;)

As a trumpet player in my youth:
*On the back of a pickup truck driving around town playing Christmas Carols
*Nassau Coliseum: National Anthem and half time show on the basketball court for the (then) NY Nets (before they moved to NJ)
*Train platform for a homecoming

Bass:
*Street for a block party
*Horse Stable for a Cancer Association benefit hoedown
*A flatbed trailer that was not stable. The PA speakers almost fell off due to the kick drum and me grooving.
*Back porch for a house party

Really cool to read all these stories.
Most NOT stage thing I've played at was a gymhall for someones birthday, the acoustics were terrible, but the birthday guy and his guests (none of us knew him, we were hired via via) had a blast and liked really liked our music, so that made up for the acoustics haha
And I've been to a jamsession quite some times at an small old barn which the owners stuffed full with some couches, a hammond, amps, stage piano and drumkit, really nice bluesjams there, good vibes because there wouldn't be much more then 15 to 20 people there all into blues!

Played on a big barge in the Gulf of Mexico. The band was at one end with a tarp over us and a generator. A wicked squall blew up real quick so we shoved all the equipment in a pile and pulled the tarp down over it. We grabbed a couple of six-packs and crawled in, tucking the edges under our butts as we sat waiting for the storm to blow past. All the people who had pulled up in boats to party on the barge split. The chain to the anchor snapped so the barge was spinning freely as the wind and rain battered it. When the storm passed we crawled out and there was no one else around, just us musicians. Eventually someone remembered we were still on the stupid barge and after a few hours came and picked us up.

1. In the prison yard where Shawshank Redemption was filmed
2. On top of cow manure
3. In the loft of a 100+ year old abandoned barn in sub 0 degree temperatures
4. In a music store's brass/woodwind section

The most boring and ugliest stage... circa 1966.
