All Things Must Beat. Share Anything Beatles!!

Although I haven't seen any official word, in reviewing individual clips I did see that Chad Smith appeared with Will Farrell in the opening monologue.

My guess is that Chad asked Abe Jr. if he could play with Paul since he was going to be there anyway, and that both Abe and Paul approved. Heck, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Abe was there in the audience showing his support. ;)
Following this back up. Anyone hear anything new about Abe?

According to the AI robots, this comes up:

Keeping the beat for Sir Paul - The Boston Globe

Abe Laboriel Jr. missed Paul McCartney’s Saturday Night Live appearance because he could not fly to New York due to an urgent family situation. Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith stepped in to fill the role, an opportunity that also allowed for an on-stage comedic reunion with episode host Will Ferrell. [1, 2, 3, 4]
This marked a rare absence for Laboriel, who has been Paul McCartney’s primary drummer since October 2001 . While his sudden unavailability required a last-minute replacement, fans and forum communities widely speculated that his father-in-law's passing—which occurred around the same time—was the reason behind the medical and personal emergency

He also missed Paul’s appearance on,
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert a few days later on his last night on the air. But he was playing with Louis Cato and the Great Big Joy Machine.

Thanks for asking. The information below as posted by @DJ Bebop was the only information I found as well when I last looked a few weeks ago.
