Best sound for The Beatles. MFSL Black Box Half Speed Masters vinyl.

Dude! Izzat yours?!? Have you played 'em?? I wouldn't trust my actual vintage '60s Sony/Superscope AM/FM/Automatic Turntable player to do 'em justice. In fact, I no longer trust that system with my actual vintage '60s records, either!

I do own the "The Black Box", MFSL The Beatles, The Collection. But, that photo is from Google images because I did not feel like snapping a shot of my Black Box and getting it into the PC.

Turntable. A Linn Axis with a German moving magnet cartridge. Modest but leaning towards the "good side".

Great to hear The Beatles the way George Martin intended!

Interestingly, the best sounding Beatles Lp is the first one, Please, Please Me. Why? Few if any over dubs. Pretty much recorded live in the studio.

My stereo system is equally as important as the refrigerator. If one or the other stops working, it MUST be fixed or replaced. Around 4,500 Lps are in my collection. 75% of my Lps were purchased at used record stores during the late 80s to about the early 2000s. Then eBay came along and ruined the used record stores.

Thank you, sir, for your "story behind the box". Good stuff, indeed. Afraid I haven't played my vintage vinyl in many decades. Guess I call myself "preserving them for posterity". Oh, but during the '60s they were on continuous rotation with one stereo speaker on each side of my bed ready being even more preferable than my headphones. Probably not worth enough to get me to part with them. But, surely, Shirley, my heirs will get a couple bucks out of 'em,

I have that box set as well - bought new when released. Only ever listened to a little bit of it on a very high-end system. I think only Sgt. Pepper was played, and maybe a few other songs on a few other albums, but most have never been touched.
I haven't owned a turntable in years. Maybe I'll have to buy one...

WOW! I had no idea. I think the set was $289 or $299 when new. I kept it in the original box for decades and seem to recall the price being written on the box.
