I have really enjoyed reading all of the posts in this thread. I love everything about the Beatles. My love started when I saw the first appearance of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. I was ten years old at the time. And, like a lot of kids and teens, became immediately enthralled with them. It was the start of Beatlemania and I got sucked into it wholeheartedly.
Living in a small town in Southeast Texas meant many hours of listening to Beatle records. It also made it hard to get those records, sometimes. I had all of the records memorized. Each song on each album. I played all of those albums so much I new which song was next to play on each album, no matter which album was playing.
Life inserted itself. I grew up, graduated from high school, joined the Navy and lost all of my Beatle Albums to younger sisters. Moved into 8-tracks, then into cassettes, then into CD's and finally into streaming. Since I love music, other music took my interest over the many years, ( I am 66 ), however, you never forget your first love. I finally got to retire and take life easy and all of a sudden I realized that I had nothing really important to do. It hit me like a ton of bricks.....I am going to learn the bass guitar. For me it is more than learning notes......I had to learn songs. And what better songs to learn the bass on than the Beatles. Songs that are so ingrained in my heart and mind.
Which brings me to the purpose of this post. Through Amazon, I have reacquired the Beatles CD's, which I prefer over streaming. The HELP! album that you usually see in streaming is this one:

Which wasn't the album that I memorized as a young boy/teen. There was something missing. Other music was missing from this album. It just didn't sound right. In my search on Amazon for Beatle CD's I found the HELP! album that I grew up with.

The album soundtrack from the movie. The songs are split with soundtrack music from the movie, which was left out from the other common HELP! album. In my youth, I memorized and ingrained in my brain the album, with all the soundtrack tracks in between the various songs. Like I mentioned earlier, I knew every song order on every Beatles album. So every time I listened to HELP! my mind kept wanting to insert the other tracks that were missing. Even to this day it happens.
I know that I am blathering on, but it just fascinates me that after all of this time and years, I still know and feel the missing soundtrack parts of the album. I haven't had that album in my possession to listen to for over 55 years.
My wife supports my effort to teach myself the bass but she questioned why I choose to learn with the Beatles songs. I could have said it's all about Paul's bass lines, (which of course it is), but it is also because the songs are ingrained into my soul.
Fortunately, I'm not that bad, . . . . yet. I'll survive, I guess.
