Btw. First time I ever saw a live band was when I was 13 in 1974 and it was Talas and Billy. Lol. Blew me away.

Nice! That must have truly been something to experience. And I agree, Billy has always been incredibly kind and respectful to everyone that he met.

I remember Billy saying he would listen to the radio for hours on end and play along with EVERYTHING when he first started playing. I've also remembered his tip about setting your strap length when you're sitting down so it's the same length when you stand up to play.

Practical advice, indeed.;)

Exactly @viribus ! It’s worth the cost of a months subscription. I got my 1st month for $1.99! last week. (It’s normally 8 bucks a month) I would pay $15 to go see it in a theater and I will pick it up at whatever cost when they release on DVD. So I’m not sure why some people are bothered by having to subscribe for one month to see it. Very little is on free TV anymore.

And if you are here at this thread you are a real Beatles fan and my guess is we’re all gonna love it.

The video and sound have been brought up to today’s standards. It’s been edited to have a more honest take on what was happening at those sessions as opposed to the drama the Let It Be producers tried to create by cherry picking all the tense moments.

They were a band. They were good friends. The kind of friend you go through all those first in childhood with. Those are unique friendships. They were a family. Of course there will be tension. They were the biggest thing in the world with the immense pressure that goes with being in a fishbowl like that. But I’m also sure there were laughs. And caring and support and fun.
This is kind of unique in that Let It Be (naked) is my favorite Beatles album. I love all of them but if forced to call out one it’s this one.

I think it’s gonna be really cool.

Just finished Part 1. Quite a ride and loaded to the max with (to me) interesting rare inside stuff. It’s like being with them for the chaotic process they endured building up to the rooftop concert.

Some may find it tedious. Others will be enthralled.

John really treated him like a baby brother, didn't he.

Watching how effortlessly Paul, George, and Ringo wrote "Get Back" on the day John didn't feel like showing up on time, it made me "imagine" a world where John left the Beatles, Paul started taking George seriously as a songwriter, and the band didn't break up. Seriously: Imagine a hypothetical 1970s Beatles double-LP with your favorite McCartney/Wings songs, your favorite Harrison songs, 1 or 2 Ringo songs, 1 or 2 Billy Preston songs, and a guest appearance by Clapton on a couple of tunes. (Meanwhile, John is off having a very successful solo career. They all stay friends and have many reunions through the years, no hard feelings.)

I also realized watching that moment, that "Get Back" is probably about Paul's deteriorating relationship with John. I think maybe "Jojo" = John + Yoko, like "Bennifer" = Ben + Jennifer?

Ringo listens closely to the others noodling like he's working out a drum part in his head for whatever it is they're kicking around at the time.

Some thoughts on part 1 of Get Back for what it’s worth:

Paul did not have his black tape wounds on his bass until day 6 when they were rehearsing Don't Let Me Down.

It seems that John came up with his verses on Ive Got A Feeling on the spot. Cool.

Ringo was the one that didn’t want to tape the show abroad and Paul told someone that’s why they won’t. I’m surprised Ringo had that kind of weight.

Ringo has such a light touch on his drums.

I’m amazed they did not put George’s All Things Must Pass on the album. Great song. That was a missed opportunity for that album which I love already.

George’s 8-track that they brought to Twickenham cost 10,000 quid in 1969? That’s 172,000 quid (sterling pound) now. Or $250,000 dollars. Wow. (My math could be off I don’t know English money)

Pauls bass strap looked so uncomfortable!

No guitar stands! Lay them on chairs. Lean them on amps and other stuff. Even that iconic worth millions someday Hofner was laid on a chair face down!

They all call Brian Epstein Mr. Epstein.

I know people will disagree with me but George seemed kinda whinny to me. Paul had a vision for his songs and I thought he was trying to be nice about it but George just seemed fed up.

Burning smoking cigarettes stuck in headstocks! Ahh. Memories.

George Martin only appeared, at least on film, on days 1&8. At one point Paul lamented not having Mr. Epstein around to keep them focused. I think George Martin could have done that for them. Hmmm.

Mal helped Paul with some lyrics on “The Long and Winding Road”! Cool.

John was playing bass on Let It Be.

We hear Paul sing bits of early pieces of Golden Slumbers, Carry that Weight and She Came In Through the Bathroom Window and a well developed Maxwells Silver Hammer.

My wife was in the room when I was watching the last half. She’s not the Beatles fan I am. I noticed her watching on several occasions. When it finished I said that was very good but maybe only for serious dedicated Beatles fans. And she said no I liked it too. That’s a credit to what Peter Jackson did.

really looking forward to hearing these songs develop! I wonder how it ends?!?! :D

In the Ringo thing, I wasn’t surprised because up until the split on Management (yet to come) each decision had to be unanimous between the 4 Beatles.

The Twikkenham (sp) soundstage seems like a pretty awful place for this purpose. If the band had said “Sorry, no, we can’t be creative here” from the get-go…

I’m watching Part 2 tonight.
