He’s right they were not a band about to break up. They got back in the studio not long after this album and we’re having fun doing Abbey Road.
Love these videos where the audio is in closed caption. Thanks. I don't agree with some of the narrators interpretations but that's ok.
I play this with an open E, A, D and G. Without sliding up to the 5th position. it’s still a workout on the fingers but not as much as this. Perhaps this is how Paul did it. I don’t know. But my way is the same notes and easier. At least it is for me.
Not even Paul knew how he did it for some songs. It was a long time ago and he has to relearn them. The Stones are the same. Also, sometimes live and singing is done differently than in the studio. See how he does it here. Lots of slides.
Hmm. I don’t see any sliding. That four finger blues riff happening. Different key. So way up the neck. I approach the songs like this. I hit as much as I can but for the most part I’m not trying to nail the recordings note for note. Like you alluded to I don’t think even Paul would do it the same way twice even if he could remember how he did it lol. My bottom line is an I’m hitting the right notes and would it work if I am playing with other people. I stay in the 1st position. Paul looks like he’s staying put too
This is my bible for the guitar and I’ve turned so many people on to this book. I’ve worn out two and am on my 3rd. This one is $30 instead of the $25 normally but it comes with the spiral binding! I always immediately take it to Office Depot to get the spiral binding done. Highly recommend.

The Analogues try hard to nail Beatle songs. Here is the White Album, see 10 minutes in. This is one of the songs where the Beatles doubled the bass with a Fender VI.
Thanks @beans-on-toast ! I love this ! Can’t wait to watch the whole thing. They sound great! For some reason I never realized until now what a nod Back in The USSR is to what The Beach Boys were doing. Wow. How did I not put that together. Not a fan of The Beach Boys maybe that’s it.
I love that their not trying to BE the Beatles. That always seems kinda hokey to me. Not trying to dress like them or use their instruments or wear wigs and look like the mop tops. These guys are not afraid to have a what 7-8 piece band to pull it off. It seems like a real honest attempt to do justice to the music and the do it well.
This would be a dream gig for me.

I find it amazing that Paul can sing and play pretty much anything.
It is amazing that he is very often singing WHILE playing in the studio. They didn’t use 8 track machines until the White album. And limited use of them even then. So everything before that was on a 4 track machine. Sgt. Peppers on 4 tracks! So very often they were playing while singing those amazing performances on the recordings. They had to. It’s just the way it was done. Rubber Soul was done on a 4 track machine. Think of those harmonies that he was doing while playing that bass line on Nowhere Man. Amazing. One of the first tracks he used his new Rickenbacker on too. Cool.
I agree with the point regarding the blend of their voices. That blend became one Beatle voice. When I was very young they were just another top band on am radio. I couldn't tell you which voice was which. As I got older I got a better stereo and my hip uncle gave me the White Album. That is when they became more than just another pop band to me.
They have many good videos, including doing the entire Sgt. Pepper album live. Very inspiring.
I watched the Pepper videos last might as well. Crazy good!
They are exacting. Geoff Emerick heard them on YouTube and thought they were singing to sampled Beatle tracks. He was impressed.
Interesting story about their drummer, Fred Gehring. He financially backs the band. He hired Bart the bass player to be the musical director and to select the other band members. Fred comes from the fashion industry. He used to be the CEO of Tommy Hilfiger as well as co-owner. He took the company when it was failing and built it into a multi-billion dollar enterprise. He left to be in a band.
