Just curious if anyone is currently producing an all tube bass combo. the only 2 that i can think of are the ampeg B15 reissue and the ashdown flip top version. any others?
I saw a video demo of another, can't recall if it was ÷13 or 65amps, one of those kind of makers recently came out with one.
Think there are a few Ashdown flip tops. Combos are kind of a a bad plan for valve bass after serious practice amp sort of level, being heavy is kind of necessary to the amp function, and the cabinet is really important, wind up compromising where you don;t want to in a combo.
Yeah, but when you find a gig where it's usable, it's freaking heaven! I had to stop using my B-15 on a day-to-day basis because our stage volumes have crept up a bit since retooling the band 4 years ago, but with Bowzer we drop it right back down, and I busted it out for one of his Florida gigs 2 weeks ago and it ruled.
Of you're looking for one, you can watch the used market. As mentioned Pignose made em, Mesa made em, Ampeg had a 100w B15R version, Fender Studio.
i have some gigs where i would be able to use an all tube combo i think. im gigging right now with my fender bassman 100T on the 25 watt setting no problem
Ya man, he's 67 now, but he still does shows and kicks ass. Not as many as he used to, but he's still good for 20-30 shows a year.
The original Fender Bassman with 4x10's. The the silver faced Bassman Ten with 50 watts and 4x CTS 10's. I bought one new in 1975 and liked it very much. I traded it in on a brand new 1979 Fender Studio Bass 200 watts and 1x EVM 15. I played the Studio Bass exclusively until I was forced to sell it in 2005. Right now a new Fender Bassman 100t on top of either the Fender Bassman Pro 115 or 410 Neo cabs would be your best bet. Not a combo, but all tube and fabulous Fender tone.
thanks, i actually have the 100t and am gigging it on the 25 watt mode no problem, that's why i was asking about combos
