You mean string height, don't you? Surely the intonation has Philips screws on this bass?

If you look closely you'll see that the new "hi-mass" bridges use hex screws for intonation.

I agree it's annoying but I think you might be overstating the difficulty of finding a 7/64 hex key in the UK.

You can buy them individually on eBay with free shipping for less than £3.00.

Just to recap on what I already wrote previously - I do already have both metric and sae wrench sets, so it would be a pointless waste of money to buy everything again, but for some reason, this size is not included in any set that you can buy from shops here in the UK. Why? I don't know. I know you can get them on Ebay etc etc.. The point is having to spend 10 times the amount of money this thing is worth on postage, and waiting for a week for a tiny little tool that should have been included with my bass in the first place, is just mildly absurd.

Regardless of that I didn't think this would lead to a 2 page thread, my original question was just whether they were normally included with new basses or not, that's all.

It should be included - but the key set is often lost or discarded. It amazes me how music stores and owners throw out things that belong with basses.

Quick question about the 2012 USA Deluxe Jazz - I'm trying to sort out the intonation, but the bass did not come with the Allen key needed to do this. A search tells me I need a 7/64" Allen key - does anyone know if this should have been included with the case candy? The only things in the bag, which was unopened, were the strap locks, truss rod tool, and the small allen key which adjusts the saddles, but nothing to adjust the intonation with.

I know it's just a quick trip to the hardware store but I'm wondering if this should have been included with the bass.

It’s 2021 and haven’t used my 2012 Jazz bass for awhile which I bought new and setting the intonation is problematic. Most Fender basses use a simple Phillips to adjust the string length. It took forever to find the proper Allen key size of 7/64th. I have an expensive kit of imperial and metric Allen keys. And yet the 7/64th does not fit. Close but useless. Extremely frustrating. All Allen keys are not equal. Thank you for listing the measurement. I have close to 15 various guitars and basses and this makes me quite angry about the 2012 USA Jazz bass. Even luthier John Carruthers, renowned for his Fender California work uses a Phillips on his 4 part Fender bass setup tutorial on YouTube. It’s no wonder why I enjoy my Warwick bass. Now to go look for another brand of a 7/64th wrench. You asked a great question and that measurement info is extremely hard to find. Thank you.

all new fenders ship with a little manual and a tool bag. from the humble squire on up:

fender uses 5/32" for the truss rod and 1/16" for the saddle elevation screws. intonation is handled by a phillips screw.

below are both metric and sae hex key sets made by Elklind.
in the metric set at the top of the pic, you can use the 1.5mm -"in a pinch", provided you relax the string tension enough so as not to strip the set screw. in the sae set, a 1/16" is standard and this is what is included in the fender "welcome bag".

it's not unusual for retailers to lose these things when unboxing from the mfg and doing whatever it is they do in the store room. not unlike what they do with tremolo arms that are supposed be on the guitar but are "somewhere else".
