Allparts Jazz Bass Neck

Has any have/had the Allparts Jazz Bass neck that is bound and blocked? I need a replacement neck for a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass and want a neck with similar specs.

The Allparts neck is going to be a little beefier than the Geddy neck. Also, I believe the Allparts neck has the smaller vintage sized frets whereas the Geddy has medium-jumbo.

Would you equate it to a regular jazz bass neck? Just curious.

I have one I'm using on a project and have used it on other bodies in the past. It was nothing like the Ged neck that I got later. Much bigger feeling, more round. Not that it's uncomfortable. It actually is a very nice neck and I enjoy playing it, it's just not a Geddy jazz neck.

It’s been years since I’ve owned one of these necks, so this is just based off memory. There are so many versions of Jazz Basses, I don’t know what “regular” would be, but I would say the Allparts neck is a little bit beefier than average, while still having a 1.5” nut width.

It also has a slightly flatter radius, but only by a little (10" vs. 9.5").

@51506662112; Why not simply get a Squier VM '70s Jazz neck? It may not be as thin as the Geddy-sig, but the frets, nut-width and radius are all identical. The one I got for this "projekt" serves me quite well and cost me way, waaaaaay less than an AllParts neck.

Ah, that is quite different. Just to be clear, are you talking maple or rosewood?

I have one on this bass. I can't directly compare it to a Geddy Lee neck, never having played the latter, but it feels a bit beefier than my '69 Jazz, and even more so than a Pre-CBS Jazz of mine. I'm also having the fret ends smoothed a bit but other than that, it's comfortable and easy to get around on, fwiw.

The Squier Vintage Modified maple/blocked neck is, IMHO, the perfect compromise between the GLee neck and the Allparts necks.

I'm really liking these necks more and more...They are a little beefier front to back and I think that adds to 'fuller tone' so to speak as well.

They are well worth IMHO

The slighter larger profile of the Allparts necks is exactly why I play one. The Geddy necks are more slender than I like.
