Later tonight, I'll try to get some pics of the three Jazz necks I have to show the different thicknesses of the three. You will be shocked how much thicker the Allparts is compared to the Geddy Lee.

allparts necks - good quality?

I have a Allparts fretless p bass neck for my fretless and I bought it with the intention of just having a toss-around bass for the house of the road, but it turned out to be a super-stout neck. I was really suprised. I play my fretless at shows alot now. I suck at fretless but it's still fun, hehe.
Not sure about now, but dealer cost used to be 1/2 of what they sold them for direct (retail price)
I have the pearl inlay, maple fingerboard from Allparts.
I got mine late 2006 and it blows away the stock fender neck.
In fact, I ended up swaping out all the rest of the parts on my 2001 jazz bass once I realised that aftermarket parts will in most cases outperform the original.
In my case, it was worth it.

yeah, i love their necks too.
i used them on both of these jaguar basses:
i reshaped them to a '66 spec profile, nitro'd them and they sound and play great.

To me, Allparts necks are the best value going, especially unfinished.
There are quite a few vendors out there who sell them at 20% off MSRP.
Get a little Tru-Oil, thin it a bit with mineral spirits, rub it in by hand or with a coffee filter...SWEET!!!

Well, I tried to get pictures to show the difference in the thickness between the Allparts and the Geddy Lee, but couldn't really capture it in pictures. Looking at it you can see the difference but I couldn't seem to photograph it...

Kind of off topic but how does a Geddy neck compare to a 70's Rickenbacker? Was that what he was going for?
Hi everyone I have the idea of assembling a precision with body and neck of all part, are they of good quality? qualitatively such a bass to which fender series could I compare it? Thank you very much!
I replaced OEM poly finished neck on my Fender Cabronita w/ a licensed Allparts neck. Thrilled w/ the results and I was able to do a super comfortable nitro worn in finish. Same spec dimensions as original but slightly lighter as well.

I guess I’m one of the few who didn’t like mine. I got a j neck in maple with black blocks, it was so heavy it made my P bass neck dive, and the combo of sticky poly finish and being thick front to back made the neck feel really slow. If I wanted a maple/black neck in the future I would get one off of a Squier VM Jazz, that was a neck I really loved

I have a bound and blocked Allparts J neck that I mounted to my MIA P Bass. Fantastic feel and quality. Yes, a little thicker than my J bass neck, but not enough to matter.
The neck came w/ the nitro finish and worn back but I tweaked the back as well. Yes, I did my first decal & sprayed nitro install, just to see if I could pull it off. Here's a link to the process, including success & failures:

I've used a few Allparts necks and haven't had any realy problems with them.
In fact, my favorite neck is a very stiff maple/maple Allparts P neck that I've modified to have a 1-7/16 nut width like the original Jazz bass and is the only longscale neck I've ever had that has no hint of any dead spots or hot spots and is very even sounding.

i've had several allparts necks (mine might have all been fretless). they were all great-to-fantastic necks! i've kept one because it's so wonderful to play --- even though it's not my number one choice for a profile, it's just a special neck (this one: maple/ebony).
i wouldn't hesitate to consider or recommend an allparts fretless neck (and hey, the side dots are in the right place!
).some of the best IME/IMO.
Have any of you had action problems assembling an All parts body and neck? I would be interested in having very low action
