I've been to this party before... should be fun as usual. Maybe even moreso.
BTW the darker photo with the Kustom head on top is not the 1215, it's the 1012 cab that was shown at Labella's Lords of the Low End show in NY a few weeks back. Unlike here, people got to hear the actual cabinet in real life. That cab is a sealed 17" x 17" cube. Yes I know... it shouldn't work.
I'm not planning on spending much time this time around dealing with the TB experts. Suffice it to say that if the cabs do work as advertised and this is something the TBE's were unable to comprehend or accomplish...
I guess that's the beauty of it. Kevin Brubaker and I have both gigged the tiny 1012 cab and his band mates and my band mates and sound crew heard what they heard. Vistors to the Brubaker shop are in the same boat. I know from most of what I've read on TB that these cabs shouldn't (or worse, can't) work like they do... fortunately no one bothered to tell the cabs. So it's cool.
On power handling... all of the cabs in the line have been driven hard and seem to love additional headroom. One of my setups is a Mike Pope MPP-1 into a bridged Crown Drivecore XLS1500 and what we and more than a dozen disinterested bassists experienced was not a fluke.
So once again, dig your heels in hard... I didn't believe it until I experienced them multiple times, the difference being I didn't jump right into stating what couldn't possibly happen. This should be a lot of fun.
And as mentioned elsewhere by me, a major independent store picked up this line for a reason, by all means assume it wasn't performance. I've been helping the builder by consulting with him in much the same way I did with Glasstone... testing, offering market knowledge and making various recommendations. I've been abusing a 1012 and 112 and helping with that testing. I'll probably come on board officially if that opportunity arises. Because this line, IME and to my ear, is amazing and flies in the face of what many think can work.
If you're of the persuasion that this simply can't work, walk on by. Or do the usual snide stream of comments based on zero experience with the actual product. I'd think the lack of any actual ear time would bother someone truly interested in finding out if an audio product COULD work. As I mentioned before, these were prototyped certainly didn't work right off the bat. I also don't feel obligated to go into full detail on what I know about how we got these to work.
