Alternative to my mini rig

Hy fellow bass players,

after I've been rocking my two Schroeder cabs (Mini +12 plus) linked together for 5 years now I'm a little undecided if I still want to keep going with them.

Let me explain. Those are the best cabs in the world and offer a huge ammount of power and clarity. The sound is awsome too.
I don't have the "need" to change them it's just that after a few years I would like to try something new/different.

Currently I run them with an Ampeg pf500 which was not the amplifier that I thaught it would be. Ampeg is Ampeg and has the Ampeg sound. I do have an Ampeg svt4 pro and ampeg svt410 classic for big stages and if I do want the Ampeg sound there it is.

So what I'm looking is a portable rig that would offer me enough punch to be in a band with two guitars.

Here's what I was looking:

- Tc electronic (750w head)
- Acoustic Image (the Claurus heads are hard to find)
...

The goal is: lots of power, reliability, portabilty.
Budget is not an issue fortuntely

Can you give me some more tips on where I can look ?

Maybe just share your mini rigs

(I know anout the Mini Rigs of Doom and the Micro Rigs of Doom thread and I'm checking them).

I never owned any of the 112 Shroeders, but I used to have a couple of Jorg's older series cabs. IMO I don't think the TC750 would be the best match. IME Schroeders have a sizable low-mid bump and benefit from a little more open sounding amp. The TC's are kinda already middy and it's baked in pretty hard. Might be too much together. I liked my schroeders with an Eden 550, SWR 350, and a Gibson GB440. I think the Eden complimented them the best out of those. A WT550 would probably sound pretty good with that setup, or if you wanted to go micro, look for a used Genz-Benz Shuttle. I always heard Genz as kind of a simpler interface Eden.

That said, I'm a big GK fan and that's about all I play anymore so get an MB800.

The best mini rig I had was 2x Bergantino original 1x12's and a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 but I'd bet those speakers with the Streamliner would be even better. You can't go wrong with Bergantino's although the Accugroove 12's float my boat a bit better!

One heck of a lot of European musical equipment never makes it over to this side of the pond. It's a pity but then again I'm sure a bunch of the smaller North American boutique stuff you won't see over there either.

Perhaps Basschat in the UK might be a better resource in this instance. :)

I have a 212PL 4Ohm, so I guess similar to when you're running both of your cabs.

I've run a Crest ProLite 2.0/Zoom B3 (and all the sims that has to offer), Carvin BX500 and RH750.

When I first got the Schroeder, I inquired on the club thread if there was a head of choice, and Carvin and Markbass seem to sit on a lot of Schroeders.

With a good midpoint setup, I'm extremely pleased with the RH750. Sounds great...clean and tight, and I've been running that most of the time.

The Carvin does well with it also. I'm on the fence as to whether I'll keep it or not long-term. I've taken it out on a few gigs, but the RH has stayed in my #1 slot.

I like trying whatever I can along the way. I got to hook up a Markbass F500, but my time with it was too brief. As a plug and play experience, it sounded very good. That's definitely on my radar screen, if I come across one at the right time. I'd like to try an Eden too. Played a WT550 (I think it was the 550) on Eden cabs and liked that a lot.

Yes, I've run them with a Markbass head (sd800) for like 3 years before switching to Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 (to "hi fi") and then went to Ampeg PF500 because I'm familiar with the ampeg sound.
But I'm not pleased with the sound because in my "small" rig, which I use mostly in club and bars gigs, I'm searching for the cleanest tone possible which I thaught I could achieve with the Aguilar head but it was not the case.

So that's why I'm looking for a new head to run them. The ATS quite intrigue me. They're boutique made and those products urge to give the most clean tone possible out of the bass. As said, I owned an ATS cab and it was fantastic.

The Carvin stuff never rocked my world (nor the basses nor the amps).

I've heard a lots of good reviews for the TC Electronics. Like BassmanPaul said I live in Europe so when it comes to "trying stuff" I'm limited to the products here in Europe.

@BassmanPaul : could you tell me some "boutique" makers from "your side" :) know Bergantino, Epifani, Acoustic Image, Genz Benz, Phil Jones, Schroder (indeed...)

In high quality clean-tone boutique bass cabs, you might take a look at offerings from Acme, Mike Arnopol, Barefaced (UK), and Greenboy (US and UK).
