Alternatives to POG/POG2?

I've been looking into getting another octave on my board that can do both octave down as well as up. I'm seriously considering taking the plunge on either the deluxe POG or POG2 but would like to see some other good octave pedals with the same level of experimentation as the POG's. I have a FoxRox Octron (and it kicks almighty ass :bassist:...) but using the octave down for chords results in a muddled mess (monophonic I know... But sometimes it sounds good); I also need something that sounds good with fuzz/dirt.

Any suggestions?

i was in the same boat for a while, trying to figure out what octaver i could use that accurately produced an octave below/high.

i ended up settling with the POG2 and couldn't be happier. it's simple, PRESET SAVER, plenty of volume play, and some more features that just a simple octaver.

what the POG2 does perfectly is... well, octaves. very little glitchy sound on either up or down. just don't try to do some crazy diminished chord or something. as for a Bass Octaver? i still prefer the sound i get from my M9. it just sounds more beefy.

i got my POG2 used for like $220.

Didn't expect that from Fishman. Kind of interesting. Just looking at the video, a few things come to mind:

First, octave up = good, but there's no octave down.

Second, the "fourth below" or "fifth above" features seem to be doing something that's pretty easy to do with one's fingers on the fretboard (at least in standard tuning)

Third, and the deal killer for me, you can't turn off the fuzz. You can dial down the fuzz volume, but never get a completely clean tone. I know if you're power-chording on a bass, throwing in some fuzz is not an unlikely occurrence, but still, having the option to keep it clean seems better to me.

At US$279, it seems like a kind of pricey, especially when you can get both a Micro POG and an El Grande Fuzz (just for example) for around US$30 more that will give you pretty much everything the Fishman has (except the power chord fourths/fifths which are pretty easy to do with human digital capabilities) plus octave below and the ability to control precisely how much octaver and/or fuzz you mix in with the dry signal.

But, again, that's just my take looking at the video -- maybe if I did a hands-on there would be something that ignites GAS for me. Interesting idea, though, and, as I said, not something I would expect from Fishman.

The fifth above is a fifth above the octave. While it's technically possible to do that, it would be quite an unpleasant fingering to be doing for a long time...and very difficult for fast passages.

You are right, though. The Fission does not have an octave down feature.
