Less heft is certainly the opposite of what I'm looking for. Appreciate it!

@cataract I totally get the bolt on vs through point. It'd be bolted on a squier cv with a hi mass bridge.

I'll also add that I don't use a tweeter my cab, as I don't like them when I use distortion.

In a few weeks (estimated to ship 03/14), I'll be getting an Aluminati neck with a carbon fiber fretboard. I'm very curious how that will sound compared to an all aluminum neck, and I'll report back.

I keep the tweeters on my Mesa Subway cabs a quarter of the way ON. Are they tweeters or horns? I don’t even know lol. Whatever the knob is on the back I keep them both at 9 o’clock- they sound too dark when they’re all the way off IMO

Tight! I just sold my carbon fiber Aluminati neck, it had an awesome feel to it. Sounded really cool unplugged, very resonant. That aspect carried over to the plugged-in sound as well!

I finally received my Aluminati aluminum/carbon fiber neck (way past the initial promise date), and I have to say that I'm impressed with the impeccable build quality. I first mounted it to my Iceman body, and then to my P bass body. Bolted right up to each bass without issue and I set the action up very low, and it played beautifully on each bass. I'd say the neck profile is a thin"ish" C shape and feels great. Definitely not as thin as my Alef neck by any means, which I still prefer, but the weight difference is substantial.

One thing to note is that all Andromeda necks are anodized. I didn't realize this at the time of ordering, and chose the silver finish, assuming that it would just be raw aluminum as all of the color options were an additional charge.

Finally got the Baguley neck installed! Put it on a Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass. Currently have 130-65 strings on it in C standard (not the flats in the photo), the added tension of the extra inch in scale length combined with tuning up a half step make it super punchy and clear.

Thanks! I don't have another aluminum neck to compare it with, I've never even played one before this one. It feels somewhere in between a Jazz and Precision neck, it's not a baseball bat like a P but not as thin as a J either.

These are two more builds I recently finished. "Thunderjazz" which some of you may have seen if you follow IMA on Instagram, and another "Stang build. I've been pretty obsessed with the DiMarzio Will Power lately... And with the Robot Graves necks, obviously. It's also official, we've got something pretty big and special in the works, probably for late this year or early next and I hope to share some more info soon.

I found a weird vintage blue sparkle "Oakland by Suzuki MIJ" bass on the internet, and thought it might be a good fit for my Alef neck. The home made replacement pick guard that was on it was horrible, so a friend and I drew up a new design with the Ibanez Roadstar bass in mind. 3 weeks after mailing in the drawing to pickguards dot com, I had the new pick guard in my hand. Outfitted with Dimarzio model P, custom wiring, Schaller roller bridge, and Peavey control knobs for the heck of it.

Surprisingly, I had to remove less than 1/64" width in the neck pocket and drill new neck holes. A person would never know that any material was removed with the original neck back on. I wouldn't have done it otherwise. The bridge screwed right on and intonation was almost perfect. I only had to adjust a few saddles.

That's a Fender era (early 2000's?) Sunn 215 cab. I'll see what I can do about a sound sample, but it just sounds like a very beefy P bass through an Ampeg.

For any interested, there is something interesting developing in the "Aluminium Axes" Facebook group regarding EGC and Travis Bean Designs right now. Evidently Kevin from EGC can't be reached by Travis Bean's remaining family, who are evidently partners in the TBD side of the business.
