So here's an option. Blend-Tone-Mute where the mute control is a switch. That should give the same loading and sound as VVT pickup but with the convince of a blend control.

vol/vol tone is more versatile, i strongly prefer it.

how often and how quickly do you really need to change your pickup setting? i change things on the fly pretty often on all of my v/v/t basses.
