I originally started out as pick player exclusively coming from guitar.
After some time mostly spend on classical acoustic guitar though, I suddenly found that I had an easier time finger picking and used it exclusively, even on electric guitar.
Now however I've gone back to mainly using pick on my bass.
Just gives me that distinctive pick tone, more attack and punch that I really like.
You'll find that something will be easier doing with pick and something will be easier doing with your fingers.
Fast and complicated shift between strings are definitely a lot easier using your fingers while fast strumming on single strings as well as getting a clean sound out of chords is much easier with a pick.
