Amazing B.C. Rich

Man,I remember in the 80's,when these basses were the new kid on the bass block.Their quality & tone was amazing & they were really built to last.I wanted one so bad,but was stuck playing a lousy Fender.
I remember hearing the description,"growl" for the first time when someone was playing one of these basses in a shop.The salesman said,"listen to how growly this beast is",or words to that effect.I thought growl?You want growl?Why would you hear any growl when there's no overdrive or distortion pedal hooked up?
Man,how times have changed.
