From my Maintenance days...

For an accurate oil level reading on the Independent Drive Gear (IDG), of a CFM56-7, you had the release the pressure, first. And, it had to done when the engine was hot. In this case, the American Trans Air (ATA) fight had just arrived from Honolulu, Hawaii (PHNL).

Note: Engine oil fill is on the other side of the cowling, and CFM-56's drank oil.
