This is the North Face of the Bellecote Glacier in France. Definitely not the best picture, however there's a whole lot of mountain above that cloud line. We were skiing in the back country, repeating a route we'd already done twice that day. We went higher on the third time to get a better and longer line, when the weather came out of no where. I've never been so disorientated, so quickly, in my life. Once we managed to find a safe route down the cloud just disappeared from around us and had this almost perfect horizontal line which I found fascinating.

A few years back, I was called to assist in a rather tricky situation. An American Champion ran out of fuel, enroute from Long Beach Airport (KLGB), to Brackett Field (KPOC), in La Verne, and landed, in heavy commuter traffic, on Northbound California State Route 57, south of California Interstate 10. The plane came to rest approximately one-nautical mile shy of the airport, with no injuries, or damage, reported.
The California Highway Patrol was called in to secure the scene, and to decide what should happen to the pilot, and the aircraft. The Pilot had a lot of explaining to do to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). As for the plane, it was decided the most logical, and cost effective, way to remove the aircraft, was to fuel the plane, and taxi it off the freeway, onto city streets, and then through a gate at Brackett Field, which is exactly what we did.
Aviation, and Law Enforcement, are rarely dull businesses.
