Happy New Year everyone! I've been following along - I'm definitely a fan of PKD - I still have my father's copy of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.
I dug up one of my Tetsu Inoue cds, Object and Organic Code. Here it is with images:
I don't think I've ever listened to the cd I have, and here's why - I open it up and:
Hmm, is the cd transparent or something? NOPE
lol - I don't think I have a - no wait - I DO! I have a player that could play this! But, it's on YouTube so I'll just listen there for now. The music - even the object of the cd - take on a different feeling knowing of his disappearance. He may have died in the Fukushima tsunami - it is still a mystery, he has just disappeared. My mother's side of the family is from north of Fukushima, they feel the affects: my uncle is a farmer, and he couldn't sell the shiitake he harvested for at least a year because it was too radioactive. I went with my aunt and cousins about 10 years ago - going past Fukushima in the Shinkansen was kind of creepy - I was already old, but one of my cousins was only 11 or so - would it be bad for her? Who knows! Even the people in surrounding areas don't know the impact it may have on them. For a long time, they weren't allowing people to go back to their homes because it was deemed "too dangerous" but people right outside that area? Fine. Sorry, didn't mean to go down that route - that's what's coming to mind as I listen to Tetsu Inoue though. I sincerely hope he is ok and just hiding.
My plan is/was to pick up my bass and video something - not the Jamuary per se, but seems like it could be significant to record something today. But if I don't get there, it's ok too.

There's an episode of "James May: Our Man in Japan" where he goes to that area and it's very interesting. IIRC he talks with some locals who have always lived in that surrounding area, and he goes into the restricted zone. It's a good series overall, too. Unfortunately it's only on Amazon.

I bet that'll play on any CD player. I think CD players read from the inside out, opposite of how record players read. That's why you can play those half-sized CDs in them. I am guessing that thing you're holding is actually a half-sized CD with extra wings on it. Just an educated guess based on your pics.
ETA: I would NOT stick this in a front-loading CD player like in car stereos, of course.

Probably not going to post all of my Jamuary stuff in this thread, but here's the first one, made while exhausted from a loooooong drive back home today (Shreveport-ish to St. Louis-ish).
It will certainly play in a spindle player - but how many of those are around these days?!! I am not going to stick that into my (non-spindle) laptops - though I do have one with a spindle player, I haven't powered it up in years - or in my car - I am really concerned that my next car will most likely not have a CD player as an option. YouTube it is! And often Spotify if it's available, though I will try and buy on Bandcamp if possible.
yeah, I might start with the rhythmic envelope thing at the end and then build out.
i bought a cd player that connects to the usb port of my car. works for many makes.

I can't take a picture, but it's definitely one of the good old cd singles - one of my first ever was a Rykodisc Frank Zappa cd single of Peaches en Regalia - I'll try and dig it up. And it definitely plays on my trusty Phillips CD "walkman" (non-Sony product).
That's a great idea! I still remember being in a transitional phase of trying to play my Phillips cd "walkman" in a car that only had a tape player - my old Nissan Sentra? Now we're going way back...
I have surfed in that area, but well before the tsunami. I went back to volunteer there, north of there, a couple months after the event. Took tons of pictures, the expanse of the devastation was unbelievable.

Okay, I tried to get down to business faster. I worked all day so wasn't feeling as creative but this was the 3rd pass, and I lopped off the beginning just to get it a bit shorter. Not there yet in terms of structure. I might try to simplify a bit for the next one, and go with a bit more of a groove.
I was having a lot of fun with a LFO through Drezno modulating Fumana though. I realize it's one of my very few modules where it's all about just patching rather than twisting knobs and finding settings. Very fun.

I've used Cardinal and it's a great free way to mess with Eurorack. It's based off of VCV Rack, which is another option. VCV Rack has more modules, but I'm not sure of its pricing structure. If you try either of them I'd highly recommend Omri Cohen's videos on YouTube (a lot of what he does with VCV Rack can be done with Cardinal, though not all of course).
In the bass world, get an Ibanez Mikro. I have the five string and it's one of the best bang for the buck pieces of gear I've ever gotten. I've got mine strung E-C, and have done a lot of messing with it (pulled out the pickups and electronics, put in a different pickup complete with caveman-esque routing job, etc.).
