@HotelX - I just remembered, check out Lorre-Mill for more banana based gear that will plug n play with your Easel (after you connect their grounding jacks of course). Fun Stuff. The Double Knot can handle percussive duties in a bit more of a repeatable way than the PB2 (not knocking it, I love it's stuttering,flowing rhythms) and the Double Knot sounds kind of like Buchla-ish percussion in some settings and it can do cool kicks and also lots of other sounds.

Thanks! Never heard of them before. I might order some of their stuff.

I do have a line on a used Plumbutter that I will likely get.

Spent the morning getting all my gear sync’d up to each other. So far so good!

So far, the setup is;

Elektron Octatrack MK2- midi clock, sampling, midi sequencing of itself and the MicroMonsta.
Elektron Analog Four MK2- CV clock, CV pitch and gate to the Make Noise DPO as well as sequencing its own internal sounds.
Audiothingies MicroMonsta- mostly pads

Modular Rig-
ALM Pamela’s New Workout- clock divider
Malekko Varigate 4+- CV/gate sequencing
Make Noise Function- basically half a Maths. Haven’t really found a use for it yet.
Make Noise DPO- 2 osc synth. Reminds me quite a bit of the 0Coast. Borrowing it from a friend.
Noise Engineering BIA- perc module. Weird as all get out, but super interesting.
SSF Entity- perc module. Another loaner. Probably great for mellow ambient stuff, but so far I’m not really into it.
2HP Play- sample player. Dealing with tech support to get the samples I loaded to work. Should be cool once I get it dialed.
Expert Sleepers Disting MK4- I’d own 10 of these if I could. It’s pretty amazing. Can be a delay, reverb, compressor, bit crusher, LFO, ADSR, filter, clock divider, sample player. It’s insane and only 3HP.
Make Noise Dynamix- I’ve been using it as a sub mixer, but I haven’t really messed with it for dynamics yet.
Make Noise Rosie- mixer. Seems fine.

Did one little jam just to make sure everything was clocking ok. It’s just a single 16 step pattern using a little from every machine, plus tons of clock dividing, probability and conditional trigs.

Just a little info about the Function. In “west coast” synthesis there is a function generator. Buchla was the first to bring this concept to fruition and it boils down to this basically - it can self-cycle and be an Cycling Env/LFO or it can be triggered by a gate and then it is an AD envelope. You can have CV control of the rise and fall of the slopes, slopes means the attack (sloping up) decay (sloping down). When Serge came along in the 70s he surfaced parts of the circuit and eventually created a module called the Dual Universal Slope Generator (prior he had separate positive and negative slope or slew modules). The DUSG is what the Maths is based off of. The concept of slopes and slews as it applies to CV and Modulars makes a lot of sense and there is a lot of power there.

All of that to say, the function creates CV that is typically used for modulation (not sure if it can be forced into being a side band oscillator). You could easily make it reset with a gate from Pam’s or make it straight up tempo synced modulation.

Thanks! The MicroMonsta is an absolute steal. That jam is a single 16 step pattern using 4 stereo tracks into Logic, performed live. Couple edits after the fact. The MicroMonsta sounds like 3 or 4 parts to me. It’s just really well laid out and flexible.
I’m still on the fence about the eurorack stuff. It’s fun, but expensive and time consuming. I’ll keep messing with it because it’s fun and maybe I’ll get better at working with it.

I’ve heard that works.

Right now I’m fighting the white/pink noise that I think the Nyx may have created (based on tying to DI record it before). There’s a distracting amount. Logic’s Denoise function and some EQ is helping a little.

Ok, seriously thinking of going to something like the Fractal Audio format to better address my recording and effects needs. The AX8 is the most appealing, despite being end of life (it has the built in switches, 4 expression pedal port, and price- wise is do-able). Of course stereo effects loop is a must, so Headrush gig board is out. (will need to have the loop for all the tasty, crazy stuff not modeled but my temptation is to address needs that are amp and cab emulation, drives, compression/ eq oriented). I've been concerned previously with the tweak- time, but I've had to tweak so much lately and need even more gear to address my needs, that it no longer is a concern. Anyone here use any of the stuff available now or have an opinion on it? Thanks!
