It's kind of wild that MIDI went from "I want these two synths to play in unison" to including things like General MIDI, .MID files, etc.

And to people who know nothing about synths, "MIDI" is a synonym for "poopy sounding early 90s video game music." Though come to think of it, that same person thought Skinny Puppy was techno, so... :shrug:

So back in the 1980s I was in high school and broke and into effects. The new hotness was digital and the local guitar store was blowing out Ross pedals for $25 each. I got the distortion and the phaser and they were a big part of my sound. (Think I tried the compressor and didn’t like it.) The phaser stayed with me when I went to college and I gigged with it until one day it….disappeared. I always wondered if my memory of it was better than the real thing. But I wasn’t willing to pay the inflated used prices.

Today this announcement arrives in my inbox and….I’m still not willing to pay. It’s better that I just remember it as a $25 bargain in 1987.

My brother probably has it. He is and always was a major DnD head. If we had half the toys my mom threw away we'd be rich men today. Original Star Wars, Space 1999, a killer giant metal lion Voltron. Back then the stuff was cheap, who knew it'd be collectable some day?

Made about 700$ in 15 minutes, with a profit of about 400$.
Today it would easily be 10 to 15 times that amount.
Even 20 times that with certain cards.
It is what it is I guess.
Man that game was fun, when I cleared the valuables I played commons only tournament rules, decks worth 15$ max.
Won a few of those, the people where where so much more relaxed and just having fun instead of the “serious nerd that lives in moms basement at 40 yo”

One of my childhood memories is of the original version of the Deities & Demigods that had Lovecraft/Cthulhu mythos monsters that were still under copyright and removed in later editions - my local library had a copy of the original that I discovered after being turned onto Lovecraft.

Finally got off my butt and did something, after a long period of, well, doing nothing for some stupid reason. Having a go at live jamming with the Volcas. ("Live", though the sequences were programmed before I hit the record button.)

I hear that…
I now play mtg arena on mobile. No money sink unless you want it to be and it’s relaxing to win or lose without the ego’s and money sink to just casual play.

Sold my Mustang bass about 8 years ago when my amp blew up beyond repair before a stretch of gigs.
Regretted instantly, but hey the gigs most go on I guess.
Found this one same Color and same year of production.
Needs flats and a set up though.
Nothing fancy by any means but the sound of those instruments are freakin awesome.
