Exactly! We were doing everything we could think of to make sounds that could be mangled into drums, basses, pads, etc.

Ok effects junkies…what are you using for a digital reverb? I feel like everything out there is a giant kitchen sink of reverbs, or has issues like volume drop, or no low end cut from the verb…etc….any suggestions?

I was heavily using the Empress Reverb when I was performing live. I’ve gone to ITB plugins and my desktop OTO since. I should sell the Empress but it’s pretty dang useful. Though I have some very similar engines in my Zoia

Tons of sound engines from normal to experimental. The chorus/flange/trem modulated engines can have the reverb decay/sustain turned off and you then have a chorus/flange/trem pedal. Blend EQ, and master volume controls. Memory. Stereo operation. Even a looper function that works in conjunction with the reverb. Expression/MIDI/CV controls (never got cv to work). Works for bass, synth, hardware insert.

I’ve been curious about other options just to mix things up.

Eventide is always way more than I would ever need. Immerse looks great, but no master volume (why is this not on every reverb pedal??) and you have to switch off the dry instead of just turn the mix up all the way. Strange choice. I don’t trust a reverb without a master volume any longer.

Still have mine, it’s freakin awesome but not getting much use as of late.

I always felt it had a slight volume drop so I let it go. Very unfortunate

Dunno: H9s are going cheap(er) used now and you can set the master volume and lots of other stuff. Ditto for lots of other digital pedals. But it is more expensive.

That’s good to know. Is there an H9 that you would suggest?

Well, I'd suggest starting with the Hall algorithm. As for which pedal, you would need what's now called the H9 or used to be called a H9 Max. Do not get a H9 core (because I think those only work with Maxes now). There was one for sale for like $325 in the classifieds.

I've been mulling over upgrading my analog-to-digital setup in my music area. Right now, my Eurorack provides my analog-to-digital and I've got a very old MOTU 828 mk2 for extra analog-to-digital for my hardware synths.

But I want to be able to put away the Euro when I'm focusing on other things. I am considering:

cheap route: MOTU LP32, which is just ADAT to USB, then I keep using the stuff I have
but
almost exactly same price: MOTU Ultralite Mk5, which is class compliant, works well with iPad and is portable. My old RME interface, which is what I have at my desk, does class compliant but not well. Was a bit of a PITA when I was on the road.

Either of these effectively allow me to reverse what I do now: plug in my iPad to the interface, and then if I want Eurorack, bring that in via ADAT. If I want a bunch of fx pedals for my other synths, I can do that.

More expensive route: used MOTU 16a, where I could use a patch bay and have 16 analog ins PLUS a ton of ADAT. Hook that up to a TRS patch bay and I've got a veritable hardware brain. But it's about twice the price and considerably more space. Way more flexibility though.

This isn't about specific interfaces, so much as setting up my space. Any thoughts?
