I've had Seymour Duncan Vintage Rails in my faux-Stratocaster guitar for the past 30-something years and have never found myself wishing I had something else. They do exactly what I expect from a Stratocaster ...minus the noise.
Whether they would be appropriate for a Bronco bass I have no idea.

fwiw, i’m using a modification (slight overwind) of their al-sat (guitar) pickup on my baritones and am actually going to try them in a bass (wider spacing mod).

caveat is that they might be pricy for the canadian dollar?

maybe a used one somewhere?

I picked up a Nordstrand split-coil in the TB classifieds that fits a Bronco and sounds fantastic. It is like a Squier Musicmaster bass pickup in that it is Stratocaster-sized but with 4 poles for a bass instead of the 6 poles of a Stratocaster (even the original Fender Musicmaster basses used 6-pole Strat pickups, but the rare Squier Musicmaster had a bass-specific 4-pole pickup). Not sure if it is available direct or if it was a custom order. Most bassists that mod em seem to put rail humbuckers. I also liked a Lace Sensor pickup in mine and it is noiseless (or very low noise). Honestly I loved my stock pickup but it was quite noisy!

Was leaning towards the Lace sensor Red.
I dig the tone on the OG one but the balance between strings is awful and it’s very very low output

I found it pretty good as far as output and frequency response, with an almost hi-fi (extended but clean and balanced) top-end and strong low-mid thump. I found the stock pickup in mine to have reasonable and balanced (string to string) output though I'm sure lots of duds go out at that price point! My Bronco project bass is pretty bright and aggressive with any pickup I've tried in it but as I recall the Alumitone seemed to chill it out a bit in the high-mids which warmed up the tone at any setting. I preferred the Nordstrand though, which gave it the sorta twangy '51 P-Bass vibes with tone up but could warm up and thump with the tone control rolled off a bit. The bass has been disassembled for almost a year so these are just my best attempts at remembering!

I have heard good things about the other Lace Sensor Strat pickups in Broncos, and they'd probably give a more conventional response.

Also- the Bronco pickup cavity is large enough to some smaller soapbar type pickups like an EMG35 size (or something like a Rickenbacker Hi-Gain or Toaster, or maybe a Filtertron), you'd just need to enlarge the pick guard cutout.

Did a half-hour set at the New England Synth Fest in Boston yesterday. A small scene, but a really diverse lineup and I made some key connections down there with two different people who put on shows and seemed really interested in me (they approached me, separately). Given the state of synth stuff in Vermont, if I'm gonna do the kinds of performances I want to do, I'm gonna have to shoot for some cities.

Went well, had about 80-100 people in the audience. Had one or two technical hiccups in the beginning, but other than that I was pretty happy with it.

Metalocalypse was really underrated.
So many inside jokes in that show I think a few times I was gasping for air I was laughing so much.
Like when Nathan Explosion is hired to do an audio book……

The biggest challenge, thus far, is patch and pedal changes between songs. I've been able to work out some of them with PC's from the MPC, but sequenced patches on the Iridium don't seem to play well with those, so I had to punch them in manually. I play the pads on the Hydrasynth desktop, and I still haven't been able to figure out if I can change the key/scale on the pads with CC's. Once I can get those things handled, I'll get a lot better at this.
